M C Escher (17 June 1898 – 27 March 1972)
When I was living in Chelsea with Smart Wife and Kind Husband I went into hospital for an operation. The night before, Kind Husband gave me a present. A book of MC Escher prints
.
“They are perfect when you are coming round from an anaesthetic.”
And they were. Pictures that gave me hours of pleasure.
Years later when I was leading the lonely life of a computer animator. Loads of nights working alone, under pressure. I bought a Escher calendar. It made my year. Even after a month of gazing at one page I was loath to turn to the next month. There’s always something new to spot in a Escher print if you look hard enough.
Here are a few of my favourite M.C. Escher prints.
