They look absolutely gorgeous, Rosie. We envy you, remembering the sheer fun and pleasure we had watching our own clutches. It's like watching a cartoon at times Laugh

Well I have to say all 21 are now no more ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦. I sold 11 and the remaining 10 are either in the freezer or eaten.  So far we have had roast duck and my version of crispy duck pancakes.  It's a good job we all like duckwink

wave  I have had no ducklings hatched successfully for, I think,  at least two years, but this year one of the ducks made a nest inside the henhouse, so I thought I would give her a chance.  I was not too hopeful but bless her, this morning there was a warning quack when she heard me approaching.  The nest was flatter and she was telling me to keep my distance.  By this afternoon I had discovered that she has six little ducklings.  There are still a couple of eggs, so I guess they could hatch soon.  I am not building up my hopes for their survival yet, but she seems like she will be a very protective and attentive mum.

If all is well, I shall try to get some photos soon.

Hey Danuta, that's great news. I'm pretty sure she will make sure they survive, she sounds as if she is a pretty determined mum & it is the right time of the year to hatch. Also ducks don't mind lots of rain which is just as well considering your weather up there.

I'm so glad for you, congratulations to you & the mother duck.

wave  Thanks Nadine.  I've just had a quick look in the henhouse to make sure she is all right now all the hens have gone in to roost, but she seems quite settled.  I am actually quietly excited about it all.  smile

wave  There are 7 little ducklings this morning and I notice that the one egg left in the nest is a rogue hen's egg, so I shall try to remove that.  They are very sweet little creatures.

Aww, how lovely, Danuta.  Fingers crossed for their survival.  If you can manage to get some photos (if Mum will let you!), that would be really nice.

wave  Loved the photos Danuta....those ducklings are so cute, as are the birds from your first incubator hatch. The mother duck is obviously doing a great job.  ok  welldone

wave  Thanks Nadine.  There are five black chicks now growing fast and out with the big girls.  Out of the 5 only one is a cockerel  (I think) and as you can see, I think he will be quite a boy.  At the moment I have 3 eggs in the incubator from the stock that lays the blue eggs I get.  I shall be in touch at the end of July to get some eggs from you after I get back from Fiona and Danny's get together.   Then they will be a fine age to be with the others before I go away on this big trip.
