Well all my ducks are going to their new home tomorrow morning. They will have a big lake they will love and a new owner who will love them as much as me. I am very sad about it but it means I can keep the chickens safe in their run, Bruno will have the run of the back which will be better and we can clean out the pond and make it good for wildlife. I have really enjoyed having them around and watching them hatch has been such a joy.

Am happy to say my ducks are back. Tried to live without them but no go. A very happy pair of Rouen ducks are here and she gave me an egg this morning. Once the Muscovy eggs have done I will incubate some Rouen ones as I prefer this breed.

Aly

i got some duck eggs from our farm shop the other week, they were massive and really tasty, might consider a trip to the auctions some time.

They are fantastic as dippy eggs, frittata and in cakes. Have really missed them. The ducks are also great fun to have around!

Have only had duck eggs once, had them scrambled and they didn't agree with me, I felt quite queasy afterwards.  Think I read somewhere that some people can't tolerate duck eggs, trust me to be one of them ponder

I had a similar reaction Sue.  I thought it was the texture of the eggs after being scrambled but perhaps not...

I'll try that again!

From my youth I remember duck eggs as being really strong tasting and a bit greasy, but these definitely were not so, and the yolks are MASSIVE, so lots of dippy stuff, Aly, if you do boiled eggs! how long do you do them for, so far I've just had them fried.

8 mins for our very large Rouen eggs! They are similar in size to a small goose egg! You may need to play around with the timings as it does depend on egg size and personal preference.

wave  Haven't had duck eggs since I had to give away my ducks, but isn't it funny?  I come on here this evening and you are talking about duck eggs.  Colin brought home half a dozen huge duck eggs he was given today.  I am so looking forward to tasting them again!!   I love them!
