Well I tried to show off a few of my babies but couldn't get the pics to post. And to be cheeky and ask a quick question re fruit? My chickens and ducks all have free access to my garden during the day¦..hawks permitting. (We're having a helluva job keeping them away from the ducks) and the chickens are taking particular interest in my grape vines. Now I know you cannot give grapes to dogs as they are poisonous to them but just wondered if anyone knew about chooks and can they tolerate grapes. If not, the yearly wine making will have to come to an end as I don't want to put them at risk. Thanks.x

Hi there Yvonne,

Grapes are fine for chickens.......mine have been free-range in my garden for nearly ten years with the two vines I have...... they just love them.  They love the leaves as well as the fruit.  When I cut back the surplus branches to allow the sun to ripen the grapes I tie them into bundles to hang up for them to tear them apart. They pull off each leaf in great excitement.  As grapevines need thinning all the time in the summer it is a cheap way of adding more greens to their diet.  wave

Fantastic Hattie, thanks for that. I'll be spending the next day or two making grape vine chicken toys then! smile
