Thanks Aly, link fixed now.  What happens is that you pay up front for delivery of very fresh eggs, seems like a good idea to me I usually forget to buy eggs when I shop.

I'll try that again!

waveWhat a great idea, TA.  You will always know your eggs are the freshest they can be now.

Yes, that is what appealed to me Danuta.  I did query the year round laying and was assured that they adhere to RSPCA Freedom Foods rules about lighting.  Well, everything in fact, but it was lighting that I queried.

I'll try that again!

wave They do say that hens need a rest from laying in the winter.

I was most surprised yesterday that my three laying hens had laid three eggs for me. ( I only have seven hens now and four are still young. )   I thought they would have stopped by now.  I was particularly pleased as it had never entered my head to buy eggs at the supermarket on the way home.  Anyone else have hens that are still laying?

Aren't you lucky, getting three eggs?  What charming little chickens you have.

I'll try that again!

8 hens and no eggssteam ducks have given up too. The 2 new ones were laying before I adopted them so maybe it's just a case of waiting  a bit and I have one coming up to pol. The others produced the first eggs December 17th last year when snow was on the ground so not sure why they have stopped. All the moulting is done now and they look very smart. Bought 6 eggs at supermarket this week but don't want to use them!

Maybe the influx of new birds into  their environment has put them off laying, Hens hate any kind of change. Mine are still laying, far fewer but any are very welcome. I have never had them laying so late in the year & the earliest I have had the first egg of the new season was one Christmas Day morning, a gift from my bantam hen. They usually start in January, around the 5th.
