My good lady found this plea for help from a farmer who is giving up the free range business.  He is located on the Northants/Bucks border.

Hopefully some of you can help save a few of these birds before the March 1st deadline. smile

Oh I wish I could take some.  I do hope that things work out for them.

I'll try that again!

I'd love some too, but it's a long way to go...going to a rare bread farm on Thursday to take on a few non-wanteds.

don't know yet, a friend's husband rang me the other day and asked if i wanted to take some more hens. Don't know much more than that. He said he'd try and arrange for us to go on Thursday.

Sorry Janet, I was only trying to make you laugh..... hangs head in embarrassment ......... embarassed

I think you meant rare breed, not bread! whistle

Actually, I am quite envious of everyone with their chickens. I grew up with chickens in our garden, and loved it, but hubby doesn't want them - "too much trouble". I think he means that when we go away, organising care/feeding isn't fair on other people. ponder

That'll teach me - 1 + 12 = you know what!

oh-oh, didn't even notice the typo till I re-read your comment..yes hubby is the same here, he has very little to do with them, apart from eating the eggs of course, and uses them as yet another reason why I can't book a holiday.
