I've been made redundant! Let off! Sacked! Fired! Any way you say it, I'm out of a job. But, do you want to know the saddest part? My first thought was, "Thank God I don't have to go in there and put up with that BS any more……" Now I can get on with my life!

Happened to me three years ago….on the last day I was asked if I wanted work….I told 'em to stuff if…you probably did too much …made the others look like tossers….always willing, go anywhere, any time….same for me….and what do you get in the end…zilch but at last…freedom…start planning babe….that's how I got to have my houses out here and renovating at my own pace within my own budget…….good girl….as MOS said, right attitude. Look on it as their loss….and definately your gain as long as the payoff meets with your approval……..

Well, this is the USA, Elsa, so not any payoff, but we do have unemployment stipend paid by the government. I have been pretty frugal and have a bit put by, so the 2 together should do it for a while. Long enough to get a great garden put in, anyway! I'm wishing that I can make it a couple more years to actual retirement, but not putting any bets on it! Prolly not moving to Bulgaria…..

On one hand Josie I am very sorry, but on the other hand it sounds as if you did not enjoy the job and are looking forward to progressing your life in other ways. So I say good luck to you and remember now you can choose to do anything you want, including the garden. to you.

You know Josie in a year you might look back on this as one of the best things that has happened to you in awhile. The same experience has occurred to OH ( on a couple of occasions} and it can be used as a time to decide what you really want to do with the rest of your life. Keep us updated on how it is going.

Thanks for the support, all! I know it's a good thing, but it's also scary, too. The first thing I'm going to do is visit my oldest for a while and look for a job down there.
Val, I didn't mean YOU!

Sorry to hear about the redundancy Josie, it's was obviously a shock, but as everyone else had said..see it as the start of a new life..I did, redundancy after 28 years with the same company.

Josie, I know it hurts, but, and you will appreciate it after a while….
GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!
If I had been you I would have posted that with a bottle of wine at my elbow and a smile on my face!
Look on the bright side, they are paying unemployment bennies for up to 2 years now, so go get your garden in, relax, do what you want to do for a while for a change!

Did anyone else look at the topic line and think, "Oh crap, Shelly cut herself again?"
I got worried!

Had redundancy once with 3months notice, would I update the filing system in the meantime ,suspended files all along 1 wall. Solution top centre N, bottom centre S ,left centre W ,right E .
All clients filed in geographical location from office in the centre ,they thought it was marvelous how I could instantly produce the requested file But then I left . Something better always turns up unless you're Wilkins Micawber ! Keep smiling
