I've been made redundant a couple of times, Josie,  and you know what?  You get over it.  It may sting a bit at first, but give yourself a bit of breathing space and then start looking for signposts - they can point you in all sorts of directions you have probably not had time to think about.  I have the philosophy that as one door closes another always opens - maybe not in the direction you are seeking, but somewhere there is a new opportunity to be taken up.  Good luck, and best wishes.  big_hug

Good post by Heather above.  Hopefully you will be able to have the opportunity to take stock and work out what you need, or better still, want to do.

Right then, I've been sat in the unemployment office all morning.....

*Note to self: take knitting if i have to go again* eeek

Filled out reams of paperwork. Seems I qualify for what I consider a reasonable amount per month. People with a mortgage  or rents probably couldn't make it on that, but my expenses are smallish. Was told I now qualify for food stamps. I won't need them at this point, so prolly won't go spend more time at another office..... Yet!

You get a plastic card like a debit card that you can use in the stores, or go to the bank and get cash out. I should have mine within 2 weeks. People with no reserves would be hurting at that point, but I'm OK.

Tomorrow I don't have to go any where I don't want to, so if it's not raining or freezing, I'm gonna be in my garden! (And if the weather's bad, I'm giving this house a turn-out!) big_laugh

Take the food stamp option , it might seem uneeded at the moment but you can store food till it is needed . Ive been on an extreme economy life for 2 years now , even though we both work im now only earning half the minimum wage due to fuel prices and other business expenses and my partner is being crucified by the UKs equivelant of Satans Spawn the CSA . Even little things can help if a fall in income becomes long term , and anything the government wants to give away take ( A very english attitude , I think im turning into a chav!!) weve another 3 years at least before we can even hope to have a normal basic income . Good luck in getting another job , but be prepared , things in the world are getting increasingly unstable

Good thought Kaye. I've been told essentially the same thing by friends and family, so Monday AM will find me sitting in another office...... with my knitting this time!

Well Friday was cold and wet, so I managed to

ummmmmm.... cleaned out 2 shelves in a cubbord and 1 shelf in the fridge..... whistle

But Sat was bright and sunny if a bit cold. I hacked and chopped and carried buckets of stuff to the compost pile. I mucked out the chicken coop. I pruned and weeded the raspberries, and found out my 3 little blueberries didn't survive the winter. cry I moved a few things around in the potting shed, but didn't make much of a dent in THAT mess.

And in between I managed to wash, dry, and fold 3 loads of laundry. (Not all mine. Some was my daughter's)

If Sunday is nice, I have plans to tackle the fruit trees. The ice and snow broke a huge limb on the peach tree.  The apples just need openig up a bit. And the grape vine..... well..... I may just take it down to about 2 feet and let it start over. It's so overgrown that all the grapes mold before they ripen. (Was that way when we moved here, and hasn't been dealt with yet.)

Oh my, 13 again... eeek

Try tucking your blueberries up over winter with branches of fir trees, that's what the Latvians do to protect things over winter and the pine branches will make a nice acidic mulch afterwards which blueberries like

Good stuff, Josie.  With all that energy and decluttering experience you may well have found yourself a new consultancy niche.  Do I see a door opening? wink big_laugh

Well, I've made a stab at turning out the house......not very successfully, I'm afraid. The clutter is winning! monster eeek big_laugh   Done a fair old bit of winter cleanup in the garden, though.  This afternoon I have to go sit in another office for a while, this time on behalf of my Mom. Then I am off to North Carolina for a while to go job hunting down there. Soooooo, I have no idea if, when, or for how long I will be able to access t'interwebs. At some point there will be an update!

Good luck in your job search Josie.  Would you have to move to NC if you find a job there?

I'll try that again!
