wave I have just returned from a very nice evening to celebrate New  Year. There were about 20 people there.   We had a wonderful pre dinner drinks time with champagne, then a scrumptious dinner with lots of wine and then more champagne to welcome the New Year.  The table ended up festooned with party bomb confetti and crackers.  It was incredibly festive.

After dinner and the bells we transferred to the billiard room where there was Scottish dancing.

( Yes TA, there was dancing ).  The youngsters had been practising all afternoon and performed not too badly.  In fact I think they are still dancing.  I did have to instruct them all a little, but it was fun.

However, the most interesting thing of the evening is that I was the only person who lives in Scotland.  There were people from England, Australia, USA and  Italy.  Talk about cosmopolitan.  However it was a good mix of people and I enjoyed my evening, but I am glad to be home.  Off to bed with hot water bottle and a cuppa - bliss!!

Happy New Year all.  big_hug

Food and drink filled Danuta!  Our friends walked me home afterward so no wobbles on the way.

I'll try that again!

today i started a birthday present for my niece, and went to church as it was finally accessible again after the snow, which was nice, and made dinner for me and the Sam, which went surprisingly well (roast duck boobs basted with his mum's home made plum conserve, new potatoes and salad), and next I plan to have a bath with some wine. yay for 2011 so far.

well after a very unproductive start, I finally bit the bullet today and got on with STUFF. Made some parsnip and celeriac soup (made from some rather bendy parsnips and very knobbly celeriacs and a pot of out of date sour cream).

Took one of my old dears to the train station for her to catch the train to London

Then managed to persuade OH to help clear the lane to the farm of dead bracken, so that we can see the daffs and snowdrops when they start to appear, persuade, as in march past the lounge window several times taking the wheelbarrow overflowing with cut down bracken to the bonfire heap, the guilt eventually got too much for him. This is a winter job that we both hate, but it's now done. Need to finish pruning the apple trees next, which we should have done in December but the weather didn't permit...then I can start thinking about seeds and planting..

Just done a bit of on-line shopping to escape the increase in VAT (55 minutes to go!).  Got myself two new bedspreads and some net curtains.  smugsmug
