I adore carbonara! When it is well made, that is. Especially with our home cured bacon / pancetta.
I hope you reward him appropriately, Rae

So pleased to hear that you both had a very enjoyable evening, Rae.
A good carbonara does move things along quite nicely, doesn't it?

We achieved a new agreement this evening. The Andrew James halogen oven arrived (quite a proud looking beastie – should we call him Andy or Andrew?) and Fiona cleverly rearranged appliances on our limited worktop space to accommodate him. Ours is a "working house" – i.e. not fit to welcome guests into. But we have determined to clear the excess and sell some items on eBay.
Look out for a new section on this site – a combo of classified ads and links to our stuff for sale on eBay

Oh I do like that – a working house. So that is what I live in. I thought I was just untidy. ( Yours really is a working house) Mind you my kitchen has NO working space and I am hoping to have a new one installed soon.

was that a spoonerist agreement of a new achievement, or was it really so hard to reach concord?
aclassified section sounds like an awesome idea. will it be just for you guys to flog stuff, or if other denizens have shizzle on e-bay could they hawk it also?

My achievement for today was sorting my sock drawer. It closes now. And opens again without any socks going down the back. Wow!
I'd like to put Andrew up for sale – he has been out fighting , making horrendous noises to terrorise all other cats within a several miles radius of the front doormat. He is in disgrace.

Danuta, let's have a competition! For the "untidy house award", I believe that we would win hands down
Seriously, because F has been ill for so long, and I am just a bloke, for goodness sake, our abode has deteriorated dramatically but understandably (photographs will not be published!).
Rae - I think any such classified section should be open to regular contributors. The only potential problem is that if we stipulate that you must have xx posts then we might invite the "me too" brigade who would simply post unuseful comments
Still, I think that ToffeeApple and ourselves could easily identify and zap any obvious serial offenders. So the answer is Yes, We have maybe 8,000 visitors a day coming through the site, so lets all benefit.
Kate - our Andrew is such a well behaved beastie that it puts your moggy to total shame. Still, we have not plugged him in yet!
Let's get bach to the thread topic: "Avhievements for the day"

I cleaned the shower room and read two academic papers and that was it yesterday. I am now just about getting my head around the terminology for my new unit in Biodiversity – I had forgotten how difficult some of the terms are in zoology and botany, I was much more a lab based scientist, so need my dictionary to hand and the online American dictionary. Oh yes and I got my other result back and got 75% , so very happy.

Go Joanna! I shall make celebratory lemon and lime marmalade on your behalf.
Yesterday I got up at silly o'clock and got the bus in to town to meet my colleague with whom I went swimming, getting in a grand total of 22 lengths, or 1.1km.
Today I am making celebratory marmalade, and we will do more box unpacking and stuff sorting. hopefully we'll get the kitchen 90% clear, which is about the clearest it will ever have been!l

Danny, I think you've got competition for the untidiest house award. Our back room (the one we live in mostly) currently has, amongst other things, half a suit of steel armour just standing around in the middle of the floor!

Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy, and taste good with ketchup.

I'm awfully tempted to ask why? If that is not too cheeky.
