Very very  many moons ago in the days when you could and because we were skint ( no money ) and I was pregnant, I cashed in my pension.  It was totally necessary at the time, but I am paying the price now.  Of course I never thought I would be on my own when I retired.  What with that and time off for children, when I retired, instead of the 40 years I should have had in pensionable years, I have 30.

However, I think I should think myself lucky I have that.  I am not well off, but I am comfortable. At least I knew my pension was secure.  I don't know how I would survive if mine had been a private pension that was not reliable.  monster

Elsa, I didn't defer my pension.  I have claimed it since I was 60.  Think I might have made the right choice.  whistle

It seems that nothing is very safe these days.

oh MOS, I wish I was boating, even in Nantwich in the rain!

A good friend of mine lives there, or thereabouts, closer to Shavington I believe.

Instead I am sat in my PJs having just got out of the bath and watching the boys play some sort of racing game on one those newfangled consoles and wishing i didn't get heat rash on the tops of my feet.

I should go decorate the father out-law's birthday cake really.

Intolerance will not be tolerated.

Managed to make our house presentable to guests before they arrived – just. brightsparklystuff Also tramped through our forest, the men striding off leaving me and the our friend to stumble over banks and through muddy patches and she is not good on her feet. Nice way to get to know someone as you are busy hauling them through the mud and rescuing wellies embedded in it. eeek Fell asleep for an hour and half after they left, then talked to daughter about wedding dresses. Poor lass had to stay up to talk to me as it was nearly midnight in Australia by the time I woke up whistle

Tomorrow will hopefully, weather permitting, be cutting hay at our friends' farm. So if I don't appear for three days you will know where I am – asleep roll_eyesyawn

Hello! It went brilliantly, TA :) I've been friends with the 2 lovely ladies I met for nearly 16 years, have met 1 regularly, but never managed to meet the other as she'd had health issues for years. We'd had to make do with nattering on the phone instead. So of course when the 3 of us got together at last you couldn't keep us quiet.

We started the weekend with a walk around South Bank, followed with a very glamorous dinner in the Skylon restaurant. We were celebrating getting us all together at last, as well as my mortgage being cleared, and 1 friend's shop mortgage being cleared.  The after-dinner dander was good because London had actually cooled down a little.

On Saturday we took the river bus to Greenwich where we spent a great day at the museum, observatory and market. We boated back down the Thames and got off near Blackfriars to take a walk around to St Paul's. I'd never been in it before, and loved what l saw, although the main area under the dome was roped off for a choral evening later. Back to the hotel for a freshen up (did I mention it was still hot? 'Cos it was) and then out for some amazing Mexican food at a wee place near Warren Street tube. Not Tex-Mex but proper Mexican. And ohh… the frozen margarita were perfection in a glass!

Sunday was a quiet day with breakfast in an Italian cafe in a park, where we watched every single dog in London out for its walk. A very pleasant place to pass the time, and that's before I tell you they did amazing sausage sandwiches. There was a farmers' market, some shopping in Muswell Hill, waving one friend off for her train and then back to other friend's flat for tea and chat.

And then it was time for me to go off to the airport. Home to a Belfast full of soft rain and grey clouds.

We're planning the next one already wink

Thank you Shereen, a lovely telling.   Too tired to respond properly now but I have your voice echoing in my ears to lull me to sleep – thank you again. big_hug

I'll try that again!
