I had been following a programme on Radio 4 and have since been reading the Old Bailey. It gives an insight into how life was lived in early Britain.

It is a wonderful site, one of my ancestors is there as a witness. Fascinating stuff. Extraordinary to read the actual words spoken by a great, great, great grandmother so long ago….and know what some of her (stolen) possessions were and exactly where she lived.

TA- we have a very unusual surname in the family, so she was quite easy to find by using the site search function- I just put the name in on the off-chance of something coming up as I knew the family were living in central London at the time and to my astonishment, it did!
