There are several barn owls near here – not that I've seen one, but hear them, along with tawny owls, throughout the night. Steve sees barn owls frequently in the village when he's coming home at 04.00

I hear an owl every night but don't know what it is, also 2 woodpeckers who sound different maybe a Mr and Mrs. Buzzards flying around and red kites, lots of blue tits, blackbirds, robin, herons, sparrows! I think that's about it for today! Apart of course from chickens and ducks!

I live amongst farmers, who have fields and hedges and plenty of barns that gives homes for all the wildlife. I also have bats that fly around in the evening, and deer that roam the fields. I love living here!

This morning, driving back from Sleaford, the A17 Buzzard was sitting right at the top of a small hawthorn tree, looking very untidy. And huge.

Just the one Buzzard on the whole road Jean? They are amazing birds, I love to hear their call when they are floating on thermals.

We call them Suki birds here as they sound like Suki one of our cats! There are usually a pair flying around us.
At the moment I have lots of blue tits mobbing the fat balls! They have also started building nests in the barn walls again.

It's all going on here too, the Starlings have taken up residence in next door's roof space, the Black Headed Gulls are zipping through the air, the Magpies are clattering about all day, the Sparrows keep dive bombing the hedges and the Blackbirds (females) are stripping the berries from the bushes. The Crows are pretty vocal too, they make me laugh.

That's funny you should mention owls Sue, I could hear one last night outside our bedroom. It was calling so loud I woke me from a sound sleep. I didn't have enough umph to get up and see if I could see it however…

We've had a pair of reed buntings on our seed feeders the last week or so. That's new for our garden.

My garden seems to have many more birds in it this year….maybe because of the spilt chicken food….hens are messy eaters, they kick the pellets around. I have woodpeckers, robins, wrens, sparrows, thrushes, various tits, plus quite a lot of birds I can''t identify (I have just bought a bird book to help me to recognise them now I have rediscovered my binoculars). Red kites & crows overfly the garden along with various other birds of pray & I too here owls at night but rarely see them.

Yesterday the birds appeared in greater numbers in my garden–they waited till the risk of being counted in the garden birdwatch was over, and then swarmed in. There is a pair of robins around, and they tend to be very bossy and chase other birds away, but goldfinches, siskins, chaffinches, greenfinches, blue tits, great tits and a coal tit are here regularly.

Just the same here- Sunday was cold and foggy when we did the bird count, so few birds- even the collared doves kept away- yesterday and today more birds than you could shake a stick at.
