. I suppose the fact that the USA is soooo damn BIG (I gather some of your COUNTIES are the size of one of our COUNTRIES 
) means that you guys are used to travelling long distances and think nothing of it. Whereas we think travelling from one side of the county that I live in (Somerset) to the other, is a really long day out!!!
