It is almost that time of year again , when I swop my Gardening Gloves for Postcards, and Pen. When I am not busy in the Garden, I like to enter Prize Competitions, I can enter between 30 and 50 a week, lots of Hampers up for grabs, nearer the Festive season. The Comping scene, as it is known, is busiest this time of year. I run a Round Robin, for enthusiasts, this run's all year, have been doing it since the 1970's

Dear Sue,  I have won everything except a Car, which would be no use to me as I can't drive. My biggest win, was a 28 day Cruise in the Carribean, I did not go, gave the prize to my daughter and her friend, they gave me £500, which was more use to me. I have won Frigdes, Freezers, Washing Machine's, you name I have won it. Of all the prizes I have won, my favourite was a weekend at a Stately Home, myself and my daughter went, to make up a 30 strong House Party. I am a hopeless romantic, and always wanted to visit and never even envisaged spending a weekend at The Duke of Bedford's Home, Weston Park, in Shropshire, it was just a magical experience. The daftes't prize I have won  was a tin of Polo  Mint holes!  I subscribe to a monthly Magazine called " Simply Prizes", and of course the ladies of the Round Robin send me forms. Tina x

The Earl of Bradford, Tina...

The Duke of Bedford lives at Woburn, near me.

I'll try that again!

I knew that was not right when I wrote it, should be Bradford.

I will get it right in the end, Earl of Bradford. My daughter and myself slept in the old Nursery, with a window seat, I took a picture from it looking down the drive. We had our picture taken with the Earl, he was lovely, what a peasant I am.

An easy mistake to make.  I looked at the site for Weston Park, it looks rather lovely.  Mind you, Woburn Abbey is very splendid too.  I have been in there quite a few times.

I'll try that again!

Tina - with the amount of things that you do, you can't possibly have time to sleep! eeek

You've won some great prizes!  ok

"How do you spell 'Love'?" (Piglet).

"You don't spell it, you feel it" (Pooh).

'A hug,' said Pooh 'is always the right size!'

Dear Val, I cannot do things that people who are able can do, as only have my Walker and Wheelchair, so have to confine my doings to Home and Garden. I have not always been disabled, only the last five years with arthritis in my Knee's. I have a low boredom threshold, and must be doing something, or I would be doo-lally-tap, just got to be doing things, and as so many things interest me, I will always find something to do. I do not sleep well , because of the pain, so get up and maybe start things for morning, or do competitions. It is just as if someone winds me up, and I just gotta go!

Oh dear another competitionite...lol..Its a standing joke that I only win things that are of no use to me , Week in Southsea that had to be taken when i was nine months pregnant (sent my dad with an alias) Sister in Law asked me to do a slogan for her , she won a car ..lol..but then again ive had loads of cooking and craft books , Le Creuset pans , weird foodstuffs. Useless in most peoples eyes but ive enjoyed them , xmas is always a good time everybody whos a xmas head is running round like lemmings , so you do tend to win stuff

I have won a few non useful things, but they can be used as presents, sold, or given to the family. Except, perhaps the most non useful thing ever, a tin of Polo Mint holes!

I used to do a lot of competitions and prize draws and did used to subscribe to simply prizes, but I had to give it up and I hardly ever won anything and it took up too much time, I kepy finding I was missing closing dates.

I have won a holiday to egypt, a internet Tv and half a ton of organic garden feeds/composter/rose feed/lawn deed etc...still working my way through some of that.

I used to pick up postcards whenever I saw them to use, and have a large pile of them...if anyone can use them, just let me know and I'll stick them in the post.

I still subscribe to Simply Prizes, Janet, but , as there is no skill involved I do not know how some people still win loads, in the old days, you had to be able to turn a phrase, I just loved doing that. It is only draws now, and When I win , it is mainly small prizes to do with my other hobby, Cardmaking. But, in the winter , when I cant garden, it is something else to do. I also have run, since the 1970's a Round Robin, for Compers, most of the old girls have fallen off the Perch, there are only four left

Well good luck Christine, I still enter the occasional free draw, but as you say, no skill needed.
