sorry Martin - I thought I re-read the whole thread and not seen any reference, but when Val pointed it out, I remembered reading that bit. Being a bit dim, it's late, I'm tired

Yes it does look odd sitting there like that- It just popped in to my head when I read the post and I typed it and sent it without thinking what it would look like. Should have quoted from the previous post and it would then make immediate sense.

Are we having fun yet? I am!

Veronica has written a beautiful piece to accompany her entry for Blipfoto's Our Digital Planet compy entry. there's me, Fiona, Val and Jean on the swingseat. F looks especially suspicious of the camera!

Thank you so much, Veronica. You have summed up the ethos of this place so very well.  IMO that is a contender for 1st place.

::blush:: Actually, Fiona looked a bit suspicious every time she saw the camera pointing in her direction smile

Sorry Janet, you really are tired - ahem, it was Danuta who pointed it out, not me .....

However, I couldn't agree more with Martin, as when Brian was in Nigeria, I did wonder if he'd ever come home. He absolutely refused to return there ever again! One helluva nightmare time.   thumbs_down

"How do you spell 'Love'?" (Piglet).

"You don't spell it, you feel it" (Pooh).

Veronica, if Fiona is anything like me, I really do not like my photo being taken at all.

Much better if it's taken without me knowing! laugh

You are NOT an Aussie, Toni.

Well, you don't have an Aussie accent as far as I can discern big_laugh

I think most of us hate having our photos taken. 95% of photos that I had to pose for have been horrible.

Post mortem – part 3

Fiona’s lettuce soup was really delicious. We had it cold yesterday evening. Thanks to TCL and S who arrived with two giant bowls of green salad made from their super allotment. Those two put us to shame when it comes to allotmenteering. I hope K (TCL) posts some photos on her blog to show off what they have achieved. star

Sue and John settled in and proved to be great fun. F had met them both when she went to pick up the pekins that Sue very kindly donated/re-homed at ours. Although I suspect that Sue did not really relax until Fiona had taken them down to the chicken run to show that her babies really were being properly cared for. They are gorgeous and fun to watch. smile

Sue makes soft toys in her spare time and showed us a photo of a gorgeous cuddly one on her phone. John enjoys the craic as much as I do and we had some enjoyable banter throughout the course of the afternoon. cheers

Celia (Magic Cochin) and Cliff came bearing a Botanic Garden (or so it appeared) to help F repopulate her polytunnel. And a delicious bottle of Vouvray, which is Fiona’s all time favourite wine. They stayed until late along with Veronica, so people missed C’s famous impersonations of various animals and chickens, topped off with a graphic description of her cockerels fighting to the death. She could do mime with her eyes shut! wave

Cliff proved himself to be an eternal optimist when he approached the bottle of Vouvary with a pint glass in hand. F’s grip tightened on the bottle. champagne

We had a surprise visit from Peter who lives in the village. Great bloke. He revealed that the area around his office is a blackberry haven, so he may pick some for us and do a deal on the end product – probably alcoholic. Interestingly, he brought along a bottle of white wine produced locally in Ely, 16 miles away. That was a novelty. All agreed that it tasted like a very good homemade wine, for what it’s worth. wine

That’s the end of my post mortem. Enough is enough.

Later in the year we will decide on the date for the 2013 meet-up. big_hug

I know the feeling smile I didn't quite realise you were all going to become blip stars. I should have asked first -- I hope you don't mind! I can take the photo down if you do.

Now, I have a suggestion, and am looking at other people's thoughts on the matter, I'm suggesting a bit of a get together up in the frozen north - well, not actually at Danuta's but here in York, to co-incide with...wait for it...the 75th birthday of the Mallard. Think it's some time around July next year and from what I understand from Michelle, there may be a little bit of interest from some of the blokes. Thoughts anyone?

That is going to be a very tough duck.  A major culinary challenge methinks.

Failing is not a fault, refusing to try is
