Thanks, Nadine. It's good to hear that you liked Leeds because it does get a lot of negative press as a chav town. I guess there are good and bad areas in every town and city across the country.

And it's interesting that you have connections too, Martin.

One truism that always sticks in my mind is the fable about two families who were moving to a new town. There was an old man sitting by the roadside on the approaches. The first family pulled up and asked for directions. then asked what the town was like. "How was the town you left?" he asked. "Horrible. Mean people, lousy buidings etc. etc."

"You will find that this town is the very same," he said.

Of course the second family had loved their last town and he told them they would love this one too. I am certain that I will enjoy my time in Leeds.

Already this morning I have seen two jobs in Halifax that would suit me 80% so I intend to apply for everything. But also (see West Yorkshire, meet the people and get stuck into the local culture.

On an aside, at the suggestion of our resident ditsy blonde (big_hug ) I moved the Introduce Yourself forum to be the very first one that people see. We hope that encourages more people to use it, which would give us all more pleasure. Thanks, S.

wave  Best of luck to you Danny.  I hope the car proves to be not too expensive and you can move to Leeds very soon to start a new chapter in your life.  Looking forward to hearing all about it. big_hug

But yes, thank you and well done Danny.....well, umm, other than the slightly confusing aspect of putting it in the Food & Drink forum, rather than a stand-alone bit of its own at the top.....ponder

Worra plarver, as you English say (Danuta would never say that!) wink

Maybe I will give it a forum of its own . . . . if and when . . . smile

No word from the garage yet. The suspense is killing me! yell

But had a call this morning from the agency for the Hatfield job that is supposed to start in Nov. Apparently it is going ahead in Nov but the exact start date is to be confirmed around Oct 7th.

And  (but, but) I will have to do an interview on the 9th with the client (the employer is a small consultancy firm who landed the contract for this piece of work with the very big client company) to prove that I am more suitable for the role than any of their own project managers. Worra palarver. so not done and dusted by any means. I will keep looking for work in the meantime.

I celebrated regardless in the centre of town in Cafe Nero with a large Americano and a chocolate twist. Would have had two choc twists but they had none left i_am_hungry

Good grief, fancy your car letting you down!  I hope it won't be too pricey and I hope you manage to get away very soon.

I'll try that again!

Oooh ooh, Leeds!  Whereabouts are you living Danny, I'm a Leeds person 🙂

LOL - Lyn, Armley, Ridge Rd to be precise. It's a working class district north of the centre for um as do not know it, complete with a prison. The moor/park looks nice and some parts of it have great views over Leeds. Was considering Rothwell to the south, nearer Wakefield, but when I saw how easy it is to get from the M1/M62 to Armley I realised it didn't matter. It's a nice quiet road. Will post pics on FB when settled.

About Contessa (my car)

It was £136 expensive including tow, which is much better than I had feared. Thermostat went and the loud rattle I heard was the water pump run dry.
So . . back on the road again. 200 miles up the A1 will be a good test drive 🙂
I will take an extra day now and travel early Sunday.

Ooh a meeting, I can make Leeds, and we're not too far away if you're bored any time, a quick zip along the A64, or A63 for that matter.

I had a friend who lived in Armley for a while, not sure I went enough to warrant a viewpoint, but I liked the feel of the place.

Ty Val and LOL Sue, I pasted that bit in from an email update I sent to my new landlord!

Good stuff, Janet - would love to pop to yours some day soon on my adventures and tours. Or if you are in Leeds anyway . . . CSH forum centre of gravity shifts northwards!
