There seems to be a few expats as members and I wondered what were the types of things that they came home with after a visit back to UK. For example one of the things we bring are pork products. As we are now in a climate similar to UK I trawl any nurseries I come across.

Not exactly everything that I have brought back from England but some of the things I have also asked for

Yorkshire tea, cornflour (hoping not to be stopped by customs for carrying suspicious white poweder substancesWhistle), vegemite, white dishcloths, face flannels (amazing that Denmark and Latvia seem to have them the size of small hand towels), and in a parcel from my mother are insect repellents without DEET, a dutch hoe (without handle), insect repellent clothing and some anti-wart cream.

Some of the things we bring back are because we are not yet able to read the labels sufficiently to be able to trust what we are buying and some because the alternatives are just not quite the same, like potato starch or white flour just doen't make custard like cornflour does.Cheers

Yes all sounds familiar. Strangely, a dutch hoe without handle is on my next extensive list. A pitch fork and potato fork without handles are listed along with Avon SSS, suet,HP sauce, pectin ( I have tried making my own but cannot get tart enough apples) animal medicines because I do not trust the vets here.

We take:

Golden syrup; Horlicks (especially in winter); Worcestershire sauce; English mustard; Branston; Piccalilli; Horseradish; HP sauce; Yorkshire Tea.

We used to take parsnips, but now our local supermarket has started to sell them Ok .

No it is not related to life in Latvia and it seems to work according to hubby but you can never be sure of these things as sometimes they do just disappear of their own accord. Doh

I will need to take an extra suitcase back next time as Lakeland is mentioned alot on this site. Maybe I should invest in shares now.

Pity, I'm not going back for the forseeable future and if I send my daughter in to buy for me I know she will double up on everything and guess who pays!

Have just added paper bags to my suitcase list. I need to cover the herbs and sunflowers to gather seeds. I am using muslin at the moment.
