Great idea, Joanna.
How long would it take from Latvia?

plastic bags will not allow them to dry. I am putting them over the flower heads to get to them berfore the birds. I am also trying to steer clear of anything plastic or concrete on the land.I don't know how long that can last sadly.

I think it will take 20 hours solid but we would make a trip of it.
Sandy I meant ziplock type bags for the freezer, we can't get them here. We can now get freezer bags but only the end of last year.

OXO cubes, tons of them, Paxo stuffing, (because I just cannot seem to make my own stuffing taste like they do) Branston pickle, Haywards pickled onions etc…etc.
The list is long, my Danish wife is now used to many of the products, so I make sure not to run out!

Yeh! one of our long standing guests to our coastal cottages has offered to bring me out sausage casings and pectin.OH is coming in 5 days time so will bring my curry spices and poppadums from the souk, copious amounts of bribe duty free( there is more of that than our own alcohol in our cupboard) fresh cashews and rubbish bags.Yes and ziplock freezer bags!! The ones here are rubbish…but then nobody has freezers!
Oxo's used to be high on my list in huge amounts until i noticed one walking along the worktop…infested with weevils from the hot weather. Now I only keep what I can cope with. All weevil loving items now live in the fridge or freezer.

Ray you will have to start making your own chutney then you can save space from having to buy Branston Pickle. I used to get Yorkshire tea for hard water and chocolate when I lived in Denmark because the water has a lot of chalk in it and I often could only find Earl Grey or herbal teas in the local supermarket and chocolate because it is sooooooooooo expensive in Denmark.
We will have to get Fiona on the case for an easy stuffing recipe
(By the way Sandy, did you get my PM?)

These pickled onions are the best-ever tasting, for crunchiness and flavour, Ray, try them – you may be surprised!
Just hope this works ………

Though I can remember my Dad used to sit down with the TV on, and he would top'n'tail the pickling onions, and fill very large jars, and put in the vinegar and pickling spices, all in readiness for Christmas. Wonderful for those who have the harvest and the time !!

On my visits to Copenhagen I cannot imagine where you would start to grow pickling onions!

We haven't had much success with onions, but maybe we're doing something wrong!
However, there is an allotment site with some instructions if interested, here.
In this case, they can be started from seed, too – that would be more easily sent by post, I guess.
Sandy, did you mean that it would be difficult to find them, or difficult to grow them, (not sure)?

Difficult to grow, most people in the city are in apartments.I must say I never looked to buy them but most things were very expensive and so I would guess cheaper to bring in. I knew people there who travelled by car to holland, Uk to buy meat.Probably changed now, that was a while back.

When I was in Copenhagen I just ordered seeds from England, at least I knew what I was getting but then again I lived in the suburbs where they had plenty big enough gardens. Many Cophehageners also have summer houses that they visit at the weekends so it is quite possible to grow veg there too.
