Now then, over here in Firefoxland, I can see the big F but not in Chromeworld; I wonder why that should be?  Blumming subjects showing blue after reading is still the same though. B**tard!

I'll try that again!

Well wouldya believe it - the "blue thingy" worked fine for me just now and I haven't done anything to fix it. Let's see if it holds.

Sorry Danny, stopped using Facebook when private posts that related to my change in life, were visible to family despite them being marked private, so can't friend you,  -Twitter, yes, I can do that if you are a "twitterer"

Hannah, I have a TS friend on FB - I work with her at the CRUK charity shop.

I understand your antipathy towards FB based on that bad experience but do consider opening a new profile and adding friends selectively. Beth is very lucky in that her ex-partner supports her proactively but she is lonely and depressed. FB is one little outlet/inlet that helps a bit. Right now she is in the throes of HRT.

It may be a case of if you can't beat them . . or form an invitation-only group. It's just a fact that FB rather than Twitter has become the de facto social platform and is here to stay. I would guess that most of your new friends use it too.

However, I would not trust the confidentiality of ANYTHING online.

I agree Danny, I wouldn't put anything on FB that I didn't want the whole world to know ponder

Having said that, my FB profile is set to Private and my postings set to Friends Only.  I also regularly go into my profile settings on there and make sure they are still all set to what they should be, as FB is a bugger for moving the goal posts and changing things.

It makes me smile when I see how many so-called 'friends' some people have on there (usually teens) - they accept friend requests from every Tom, Dick or Harry (or female equivalents!) regardless of the fact that they may not have even met them in many cases.  Seems to be a competition to see how many 100s of 'friends' they have.  I think I have about 60 friends on FB, and they are all family or genuine friends.

Oh, and being 'in the throes of HRT' is far, far better than the alternative, Danny......believe me, I know! (and so does my husband) winkbig_laugh

So did I apart from the occasional bout of being crochetty.

I still  can't get the big F button in Chromeworld, not that it bothers me much, I am not fond of FB.

I'll try that again!

Hi Danny, I may set up a Hannah account and see how it goes. Sue, I agree, FB does change things, and that is the reason I'm a bit reluctant still, as I need absolute assurance that private is private. I never put personal info that could compromise me on FB anyway , so it would still apply, just will be extra cautious in future if I set up a new account.

Are we having fun yet? I am!
