Good morning all.  Oh, whoops, afternoon.  Another long lie-in (except I had already been up at dawn to feed the ravening hordes and gone back to bed) and now we have just had breakfast which was those Jus-Roll pain au chocolat in a tin that you bake yourself and fresh coffee.  Om nom nom.  Anyone got a recipe for making pain au chocolat from scratch, and an idea where to source those dark chocolate sticks you need?  Feeling a bit inspired now….

Here's one. Not for the faint-hearted. You don't need sticks, just plain chocolate chips, or chopped-up chocolate.

ooh, thank you.  Sounds like hard work, doesn't it?

TA, what are you doing up, it's a bit early for you isn't it? eeek

A very good morning to you, my dear……and to Nadine and Kaye – hello girls wave

It certainly was!  I had been waking since about 4.00 then decided to have tea a CSH. Then I came over all tired again and had a snooze until 9.40.  Unfortunately I fell asleep whilst lying on my side which caused pins and needles for some time…steam

I'll try that again!

late check in as OH has been hogging the computer making music CD's for me as he has put my new MP3 in my Smart!

Xmas lights down and cake nearly finished. Not much planned for today other than house work.

OH has fitted my MP3 player, fixed the pond pump, chopped wood and made me some CD's (lots of Queen), finished chisseling out stone to fit windows in little Gite and sorted some plumbing. A good day!

It's blowing a gale and dark as night – who stole the sun?
Packing T up for a week of respite today so looking forward to eating and sleeping to my own rhythm for a few days.

More meal planning today…..I don't want to go shopping again (apart from maybe the odd essential like milk or some fruit for husband) for a while, intending to use up what we've got.

wave Well the best laid plans and all that!!  I should have started packing up by now, but with no power and it being so dark outside it was not really going to be possible.  Now, of course I have lost the will to get started.  It is still dark even with lights on.  Think I may just have to cuddle up in front of the fire today.  whistle

wave I  have no heating due to low voltage. The temperature is 14 degrees, which is not too warm.   whistle  I shall have to move to the room where the fire is lit.

The kettle takes for ever to boil and the microwave is useless.  There is a line down in the grounds, but goodness knows when they will be able to get round to fixing it, the workers are so busy.   There are so many trees down here pulling down lines with them.  At least I do have some power unlike many others I am sure.

Oh commiserations Danuta, I really feel for you.  We used to have a lot of power failures here when I first moved to this cottage….luckily they put in new equipment which is much better.

Put on yet more layers & cuddle up with the dogs in front of the fire, they will keep you warm.

Take care of yourself & mind all that slippery mud….. big_hug

Well done Aly for braving the weather to clear out the chicken coops….I'm leaving mine till spring as I do the deep-litter thing. Glad the eggs are still coming regularly, the other hens should join in soon.   big_hug

I have had it going for 10 days now. The River cottage book says to make a sponge the night before then start on the bread the next day using the sponge. I am struggling to find a clear day to do this but the starter is fermenting well.
