My favourite art form is photography. Not that I can do it myself but I can get lost in a great shot the way others can get lost in a Rembrandt.

The author passed away in April but I hope his legacy lives on.

This shot was of him, not taken by him. But how gloriously dramatic.

Feel free to post links to your own favourite photo sites.

Not yet, Danuta. Waiting for some more feedback from others (not on this forum) and also balancing some significant bills. It will happen but the timescale is a bit uncertain.

Very dramatic, was it taken in Ireland do you think?

I'll try that again!

No indication of location, TA, but most probably is Ireland. It may be Valentia island, off the  coast of County Kerry ( south west, or bottom left-hand corner of Oireland!) seeing as he mentioned going there in the caption. Could also be the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare (also west coast) or even Shereen's own corner of the world in Norn Irn.

I wonder if he realised how precarious it looks. Probably yes. I would guess that he knew the spot from a previous visit and knew what a great shot it would make. I think that I would not pose there for all the photo awards in the universe eeek

There are some really good photos on that site. Like you, Danny, I enjoy taking photos but I don't get much chance these days. I used to do a lot of landscape photography so I was a huge fan of Ansel Adams.

Last weekend I went to the Festival of History and tried to get some photos of the various battle re-enactments and people in period costume. I've uploaded a few of my photos to my blog - I've been intending to convert some to B&W to make them look a bit more old-fashioned but I've been too busy this week.

For a few years, I dabbled with pinhole photography. I occasionally participated in the Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day, which was a bit of fun.

Danny, I've been to all those places, they are dramatic and I loved it there.

Mike, your pictures are very dramatic too, especially the ones with the smoke.

I'll try that again!

Mike, why don't you use your sig line to make a link to your blog. I enjoy it every time I visit and I'm sure others would too. Many people do not notice the little web site icon above your posts.

Cheers Danny, I'll do that. Glad you like the blog and TA, glad you like the photos. These days my blog does seem to be mostly about food, which is mainly down to setting myself the task of cooking something new each week. I don't seem to get around to blogging about the random events and trivia which I used to.

In one of the other threads, someone (can't remember who) posted some links to some food blogs with great photos – I find taking good food photos to be particularly difficult, especially given our small, dark, cluttered kitchen.

Visit my blog for food, drink, photography and hamsters.
