always good to find out what you are dealing with and have a plan of action. Makes a change as you say to have a GP who listens. Hope you start to feel better quickly

Thank you Aly. I'm feeling so much more positive now I know for definite. Was beginning to think it was all in my mind (despite bodily evidence to the contrary).

What good news! I hope the anti-fungals make you feel better soon. I'd be interested in what the Dietician tells you too.

My guides have just told me that you should eat as much natural yoghurt as you can….with honey, nuts and added fruit…don't know….just got it through…

Thanks TA and Elsa.
I've read so much conflicting evidence, but a couple of books I've got from the library written by nutritionists who specialize in candida infections say you should avoid everything containing sugar (including fruit and honey). Nuts seem to be ok, as long as you buy them in their shells and crack them yourself – apparently, they're covered in mould if they're already shelled! Natural or greek yoghurt is also fine, so they say, unsweetened of course.
From personal experience, I know that any fruit has an immediate effect on my mouth, making my tongue/lips burn straight away and bringing on the white oral thrush sores within a couple of hours, so I'm avoiding fruit altogether.
Can you ask your guides for a rethink, Elsa?

I agree that doctors don't necessarily know everything, and we should listen to what our bodies are telling us. My body is adamant that it does not like fruit – unpeeled, peeled, fresh or canned. It's not at all keen on sugar, caffeine, cows milk/cheese, potatoes, wheat products either…..and certainly not alcohol (damn! ). Haven't tried honey. I'm discovering all this by a process of elimination/reintroduction and monitoring my reactions.
It's certainly, umm, interesting (or should that be exasperating )

Hi Sue,
Are you keeping a chart of all your reactions with dates etc? it seems that the reactions change at times.
I have PM-ed you some more info.

Honey does have the advantage of having anti-bacterial properties but not sure about anti-fungal

No I haven't been Nadine, only what foods produce a reaction, not the date. Good idea to chart it (you're full of good ideas, bless you).
There's a house in the village that sells honey from their own bees…..haven't tried it, but perhaps I should give it a go. I had heard about the antibacterial qualities, and I think my mother in law was recommended to take propolis by a herbalist – can't remember what for though.

That's interesting, Sue, I hadn't heard of propolis, but Wiki suggests that it can act as antifungal – see under antimicrobial – (scroll down a bit on the page), as well as many other properties.
Something new learned every day on here .

Ah yes, I remember now why MIL took it, after reading that Wiki link, thanks Val. She'd had a heart attack, and was interested in boosting her immune system so she didn't catch any bugs or anything. Her local health food store (an independent one, run by a lady who was very knowledgeable about all the products and had some sort of herbalist qualification or background) recommended she take it for that purpose, and said it helped keep the heart healthy.
