I had to look up the expression 'whoosed' as I have never heard it before, being such an old biddy.

Here's enlightenment for any others, this dictionary is very useful to me.....I can understand a lot more of what I read online thanks to it......wink  whistle

I'm still not quite certain of the usage...

I'll try that again!

Phew, that IS a relief!  I somehow just can't get the sense of the word.  Anyway, it sounds too much like whoosh to me.  But I am currently reading this, which is a super book, I am enjoying it enormously.

I'll try that again!

Nope cannot help, I looked at the meanings and cannot see how I would use the word. Perhaps it is an age thing! I have always used it to mean a soppy person but not sure how it would be spelt.

That's interesting, TA, we often hear phrases and wonder how they came to be, so I think I would enjoy the book, too.

Apart from the learning angle, it is a fun read too.

I'll try that again!

Yes I do, but I am still exploring it.  I love finding out about words & how they have changed meaning over the years.
