ToffeeApple Toffeeapple and myself are really concerned about Danuta because she has not been online here since Monday night.

We know that she lives alone but we do not have a phone number or a true location.

The reason for her not being online could be as simple as an Internet access failure or a laptop problem but her absence is cause for concern.

I am uncertain about contacting the emergency services on such flimsy evidence, but what do you think?

I have been thinking about her all evening and am so concerned that I am still awake.  Is there a way that we can have contact with the people whom we love, other than asking them for their numbers?

I'll try that again!

hi danny you could ask the local police and see if a comunity officer will do an informal enquiry if you have a rough idea of her location they should get an address from there data base or electoral regester

better safe than sorry

Thanks, MOS.

Just checking that nobody else has already done it, to avoid duplication.

Strathclyde police have passed the details to the Argyll and Bute division and they will get back to me in due course.

Now I regret not doing this 24 hours ago.

Fingers crossed and hopefully it is a false alarm.

I just looked back at her post about Gigha, she says that her brother is to visit her other brother in Fife and then coming back to Argyll on Sunday.  No real clues there.Cry

I'll try that again!

I have just had a call from a very nice Constable McCulloch of Strathclyde police.

Danuta's broadband access is down. (Spork required Spork )

Thank goodness for that! BrightSparklyStuff

I think they were trying to let me know earlier but for some reason they were calling our fax line number and I don't normally answer that because of continuous spam, as in recorded messages being played into my left lughole. I have no idea how they got that because I gave my mobile number when I reported our concerns.

Big Brother knows more than you want him to know! Doh

Now I await the account from Danuta's end - the day when a nice police officer turned up on her doorstep to ask why the heck she had stopped posting on this forum! Big_Laugh

Where's my Superman emoticon, MOS? Big_Laugh Big_Laugh

Full credit to Strathclyde police for taking the trouble to follow up on the call. That's the good side of policing that often gets lost in the media reports. I feel a Letter To The Times in the offing!
