Why not try to take inches off Maria instead? Inches are supposed to be important around the middle, too many is higher risk than those inches on our posteriors.cheers

Sorry I'm late, was too tired last night once I'd got the chores done.

I weighed myself Sunday night, and I'm 9 stone 8, I need to get down to 8 and a half so 1 stone and 1 pound to lose.  I started well by cycling to work yesterday and today and not eating any rubbish or having a glass of wine last night, however I've had 2 lousy days back in the office after my week off so tonight I may have a glass of wine to wash down the pancakes I've just eaten.  Weather forecast for tomorrow isn't brilliant but I will try to cycle anyway.

How many miles do you have to cycle Lynn. I really should go out cycling, I used to love it, but never seem to get round to it now. I did try going out with the dog on a long lead, but she has the habit of running across the front of the bike.

Not ideal, Janet !!!! You don't need the prospect of going over the handlebars! eeek

Its only just over 2 miles each way.  3 years ago I was doing 6 miles each way, but changed jobs and got lazy.  I didn't cycle today as last night I started with the most horrendous head cold, sore throat and tickly cough, and it was chucking it down here first thing. frown

Ditto Lynn, it must be something doing the rounds in the area, you Leeds, me York and I'm the same, I've had a headache for 2 days now and the sore throat and tickly cough AND stuffy nose. Dosed up to the eyeballs with cold remedy.

Mind you on the good side, I've got no appetite

wave Lost one pound again this week.  Not good enough as because I have so much to lose I should be losing one and a half to two pounds a week.  And the wine consumption is well down!!!!!!!  I was away for three days but I should not make excuses.   yell

Hi girls. New to the Monday weigh in. Who started weighing on a Monday? most weekends people might have been naughty, but by Friday have the will to carry on when they see a loss on the scales. I am fighting the flab having given up smoking 3 yrs ago and piled on the pounds. I weighed 9st 10lbs on Monday. I have lost a stone over a 6 month period but still another one stone to go. I have been following the Rosemary Conley regimen which I find very good. Her recipes are easy to follow, very tasty and whats more if you stick to it, it works. It is the same regimen that we all know, low fat and low cal recipes. The trouble in our family is that we are all avid cooks and the nondiet households insist on giving calorie rich deserts, cheese boards and wine followed by Brandy coffee (with cream of course). I take an invitation as an excuse to slip from the straight and narrow.

Hi pat

wasn't me that suggested Monday weigh ins, but maybe it gives a bit of an incentive over the weekend to not indulge TOO much. Historically I lost weight with Weightwatchers, so am back to using thier principals. But oh how I love cooking..and eating.

The only way for me to successfully lose weight is exercise. Apart from my inherent laziness, it takes time, which sometimes is in short supply. Before i met Fiona I had a gap of about a year between relationships. That gave me the incentive to trim down, and I did. Bingo! Fiona met a fairly healthy and energetic bloke kiss. Now she could probably sue me under the Trades Description act doh

But looking out at this beautiful blue-sky spring day gives me the urge to do something about my weight.

An ex of mine had massive success by ditching her car and cycling instead. She probably cycled 20 miles a day because she did some extra miles in the evening. She lost a lot of weight very quickly. But cycling on our narrow country roads is just dangerous I think.

Never knowingly underfed

You're talking yourself out of it, Danny (big wuss, you! big_laugh).  Get a big loud horn and bright lights and yellow reflector jacket, and don't have ear plugs in listening to music as you ride along, and you'll be fine!!! (says the woman who flogged her bike on ebay winkbig_laugh).
