I hadn't heard of them either, but then again, if the website maura linked to is to be believed, there is only one in all of coventry and since it isn't at my local gp, I probably won't have seen anything about them. There don't seem to be any in my home town either.

ep, your post/rant had me laughing out loud. I would seriously love you to be at the meeting, and Kaye you must be psychic about male retiree's big_laugh

I was recently sat next to one such male who had been asked to draw up a list of questions for next patient survey. His suggestions included "what art work would you like to see in the waiting room – please specify one of the following. a) Monet, b) Pissaro, c)Degas"? (I felt like telling him to Pissaro off)

"Would you prefer the seating arrangement to be changed so that it formed seperate areas of seating around tables"?

What sort of carpet would you prefer to see in the waiting area"?

Whe I casually mentioned that many of the younger patients might not even know who the artists were let alone choose one (not being patronising but one of the surgeries is in a poorer area with a lot of single mums) he sneered back at me  – then they can get lost!

So disheartening – but then I blame the surgery for not advertising for volunteers properly. All they have done so far is to put a few poorly worded notices on the reception counter – most people havent even seen them or even been aware that volunteers are needed.

But a much more important point is this……ep, I suffer with Labrinthitis and I'm overweight what are those magic pills called big_laugh…no seriously, I do suffer with it. Makes me giddy and everything spins around in front of me, like being very drunk but without the pleasure of the booze. My GP said it would pass and did not offer me anything. I still have constand ear popping, crackling and whooshing noises and dizzy spells.
