Just had my water bill for 2 months and it equals my electricity bill!!!! My garden is looking fantastic but costing a fortune. Is 50 pounds a month alot in UK????? Village water( which is free) only supports the pond and streams.

Sandy, you have my sympathy about water bills. We live on the edge of town, so we have city water, but it tastes so horrible that we drink bottled water.
In the summer, if we truely watered the way we should to keep everything looking great our bill would be $300 a month. Looking at a converter, I would be paying 200 pounds a month.
I hope that makes you feel a little better since I now feel like we are getting ripped off even more!

That does sound a lot Sandy, we usually pay about 5 -6 Lats per month and that equates to about £8

I've just paid for water for the last six months….14 BGN….roughly £6.50….and to be sure my builders aren't careful with it . It could even be less …

Re-use your bathwater/washing up water- saves money and gives a very satisfying feeling of getting one over on the water company as you pay once, but use twice.Fine for general garden watering, but stick to the good stuff for anything you mean to eat.

This is a very quiet rant. Today my grandchildren went back to Fife and my house is back to normal. There are no wellies at the door, no dolls and teddies all over the settee, no books lying on the table and no sounds of laughter. I am always so sad when the quiet descends once more and I do not hear the shout of 'Nana' from the bedroom. It makes me wonder the wisdom of living on the opposite side of the country from them, but I know in my heart I could never go and live in a town again.
Right, rant over. I shall now pull myself together, go and do something and stop feeling sorry for myself. I shall see them soon.

Saying goodbye is the worst bit, and then having to walk back into the empty house.
I know just what you mean, Danuta.
……. and I bet the sun is shining now, too

Driving OH to the airport after a 3 day visit, him feeling miserable and me knowing I am going back to doing it all myself again. Not that I mind the work, just doing it without company. The only good thing is that you generally get the right answers when you talk to yourself.

How long before he comes back again, Sandy?
Is he planning on 'retiring' with you in Turkey?
(Sorry, don't mean to be nosey, just interested ….as our plan was to retire to France, but it just hasn't happened)

He will be here on Wed. for 2 days prior to a european business trip and then for a whole 2 weeks over Ramadan in August. The plan is that he will work from here in the new year and have 2 weeks here and 2 weeks in Saudi….far better compromise.

Hmm Danuta, I have that to look forward to as my grandkids when they come along are likely to be in England and Australia. Well that is what it is looking like at the moment. I love having my own kids around but after two weeks we all look forward to the trip to the airport , not so sure that will be the case with grandkids though.
