Rae- don't forget to also visit the wool shop- zombies hang around for ages, so you will need plenty of knitting/crochet to pass the time.

Hey Kate, the wool shop is a good idea, you can stock up on knitting needles to use on the zombies, very unexpected!
Danny, I'm not sure what the story is on the pipe bomb in Stockton. I never did see anything on the news. My guess is the police don't want to give it any press to encourage someone via the notoriety. I did find a short article about another pipe bomb that had been left in a park in Stockton last Monday. Hopefully this isn't a serial crazy. I'm done on Friday and will be very happy to go home. Its too hot here! (Is there a smiley that sweats?)
I used to work for a major hardware co-op in the U.S. in my younger years, so the idea of a hardware store as a "ticking time bomb" was driven home to me on a tour of one of the hardware distribution warehouses.
Now, keep in mind that this warehouse was acres and acres of HUGE. This warehouse had a special section, a separate room, that had its own roll down fire door and separate fire exits. This was where they stocked all of the fertilizers, spray paints, anything flammable.
The roof on this section was specially designed to explode in an upward fashion, so in the event of a fire the room would contain the blast, but the roof would go up and out, (think chimney). They called it "the Boom Room".
I have way too good of an imagination. The place gave me nightmares!

Wow Michelle, I'm very pleased that you weren't exploded. I can't understand the mentality of people who would even think of doing such a thing.

Michelle, I'm glad it didn't go off!
I visited Stockton once while staying with friends in the area, about 35 years ago, don't remember much about it apart from not being particularly impressed.

Thanks TA and Barbara, I'm glad too.
I don't think Stockton has changed much since you have visited Barbara, I always dread being sent anywhere near the place, its so depressing! A veneer of upscale covering gang problems, unemployment, and, if you will forgive the poetic licence, "quite desperation". I don't remember being panhandled so many times in one trip. Its a sad place.

That is so sad, Michelle ……
I found this on Wiki:
As a result of the population increase, Stockton found itself squarely at the center of the United States' speculative housing bubble in the 2000s. Real estate in Stockton more than tripled in value between 1998 and 2005, but when the bubble burst in 2007, the ensuing financial crisis made Stockton one of the hardest-hit cities in America. Stockton housing prices fell 39% in the 2008 fiscal year, and the city had the country's highest foreclosure rate (9.5%) as well. Because of the shrinking economy, Stockton also had an unemployment rate of 13.3% in 2008, one of the highest in the U.S. Stockton was rated by Forbes in 2009 as America's fifth most dangerous city because of its crime rate. In 2010, mainly due to the aforementioned factors, Forbes named it one of the top three worst places to live.
Heavens, Michelle that is scary for you ………

Oh Michelle, I don't like to think of you going back there. What a dreadful place to have to go to.
I don't recall having heard of a pipe bomb before, but it sounds awful. Glad you were safe.

Quick translation for anyone needing it. A panhandler is a tramp or beggar.
It was so funny one day when a guy came into the Christian run coffee shop I used to help out at and stated he was a panhandler and I had absolutely no idea what he meant. I referred him to the lass in charge and then I asked her a little later what he meant. I was obviously the wrong person to ask

Wouldn't you know it – I got so involved on here, that I completely forgot my saucepan boiling some chicken bones for stock.
It is now chicken bones for the bin.
