Thanks Joanna
I felt sorry for her, she was 19 and just a young inexperienced girl in love at the beginning, you could see it in her face when she was wearing that tweed skirt suit in Scotland on part of their honeymoon. She apparently received very little guidance or advice as to what she was letting herself in for and I guess she was just swept along with the whole starry fairytale thing of it at first (soon disabused of all that though!). Ok, she became a bit of a prima donna later on, but who wouldn't, having very quickly found out that her husband was so remote from her emotionally that he 'didn't even know what love meant' – well, not with Diana herself, at any rate – and that he had every intention of carrying on with his affair.
And I'm not saying Diana was blameless and innocent…..well, she certainly was innocent at the beginning, as was expected of the future Queen, unlike the future King (what's that all about, then?).
I think the Royal Family have learnt their lesson now though….in part thanks to Diana and her whole life with Charles, what happened to her and the huge massive outpouring of grief at her death (and no I didn't agree with all that, even I, as a fan of the Royals, thought it was well OTT).
OK, I'll get off my soapbox now
