That's very rude and surely there must be some kind of rule about that?

I'll try that again!

Hmmm. Now two weeks to the day of the original request and two days after asking for an update... Nothing.

Spoken to another manager (my business manager as opposed to my line manager), he has promised me he'll sort it by Monday at the latest.

Is there any reason why your request has not already been approved, Simon?

Like might there be a conflict regarding staffing levels while you are away?

Otherwise, as TA said, it is downright rude and inconsiderate. It take less than five minutes to approve it, surely.

My lot are sometimes slow too but we just take the leave anyway, whether it has been approved or not, unless we are aware of a possible conflict or we have been explicitly told to await approval.

I have two weeks booked in July, straddling the meet-up. cheers

Just started the day being furious. I was meant to call someone and every time I have done so, they have let the phone ring (no answerphone or message) till it cuts off.yell Then day before yesterday I got an email sent to someone else, copied to me, asking if I am still in my position as they have tried calling but cant get any response! Not according to my phone they havent!angry

Anyway, sent a reply saying yes I am still here and I will call tomorrow (that was now yesterday) if that was convenient. No reply.angry

Rang anyway. No reply.angry

Just sent another email. Dont expect a reply to that one either! Grrrr!!!!! steam

I just hate those situations Ruth. I tend to keep notes of the & date of time of phone calls (as well as the result if I talk to anyone) in my large diary. I do the same with important emails.

I prefer emails for important dealings as then there is a trail & you can fire off copies when their is a dispute. It is interesting how so many organisations (local authority offices, charities, the pension office etc.) often refuse to use them. They obviously are nervous about leaving a trail of nonsense & misinformation behind.

GOSH.... now I am ranting.....it's catching........devil

Good luck, I hope you get hold of them soon. big_hug

wave Before I retired I was a teaching Head Teacher in a small school which meant my time for admin was limited and as such very valuable.  There was many a day wasted when phone calls or emails were not returned or answered and work could not progress because of people being so rude as to not even acknowledge my existence.

Then there were the people who dropped in to see me without an appointment when I was teaching and they expected me to just drop everything and have a meeting with them.  They were never best pleased when I said I was teaching a class and could not abandon the children.  Oh I could go on, but I cannot rant really as I am now retired.  smug

I do understand your frustrations though Ruth.  Nobody seems to consider other peoples needs these days.

Similar story ref phone calls:

On Monday I rang an office to check whether our letter had arrived (posted last week)and a very polite and courteous lady answered, checked and said no it had not arrived.

Following day, she rang me again - it still hadn't arrived. Getting a bit concerned now.

I rang them yesterday and asked to speak to the same lady, and was told that she worked in a different office and in a different town.

I queried why, after ringing the first time I ended up speaking to the wrong office. Apparently after a certain amount of time ringing, the calls are diverted to the other office!!

Incidently the letter had arrived after all!

Worry over.

If there was a conflict then he could say "sorry, no". In any case my main job is for another team, my impact to my line manager's team/work is negligible.

I have found out why he hasn 't dealt with my original request or the request follow up. He has  over 300 unread messages in his inbox, and goes on 2 weeks holiday after tomorrow. Yeah his holidays get sorted.aargh

The good news is, that due to complaints to HR, poor team moral, and poor team performance is that he is being moved to manage another team. He has just had a disciplinary hearing with HR. Apparently my new manager is my  business manager who I get on with very well and have a lot of respect for.

As some may know, I  am finally making my way home from Sedona, AZ.

As luck would have it, Dan had a Friday off, so he flew down to Arizona to help me drive home.

(That's code for, we're doing some sightseeing on the way home.)big_laugh

What's so rantable and raveable about that?

I have to give the store owner a review to fill out, to evaluate the work I did.

Keep in mind, I have been at this store since 5/29, working 10 hours a day, 6 days a week.

I have had to deal with a lack of co-operation from the staff, a lack of work supplies (shelves, peghooks, bin dividers), since they didn't feel the need to order enough to do the project at one time, they kept placing small orders that came in once a week.

I had to deal with a store that had all of its fixtures turned (they were running north/south, now they run east/west) so all of the departments moved, nothing stayed where it was.

My time was cut short by 90 hours, because key fixture elements were missing, so there was no point in keeping me there, I couldn't finish.

The store owners evaluation.

wave  Aaaaw Michelle, that is so shitty but so totally typical.  Some people can never admit that it is their fault & it is always the visitor worker/advisor who will be blamed as they won't be around for ever.

So big_hug to you & enjoy yourself on the way home with Dan.

Poor you¦.

I used to do supermarket new store openings and refits but on the system training side where management were 'too busy to release the staff for training'.  After the first catastrophe where they tried to peg the blame, I learnt very quickly to flag things on the highest flagpole.

Firstly¦ manager¦.no joy¦area manager¦.area controller and finally, senior directors.  I had the listening ear of a couple of them and developed the reputation that¦if she''s raising issues....there must be some...

Next time¦get in there first¦..ponderponder

B*st*rds¦.aargh¦.Enjoy your meander home and forget Sedona¦. put it to bed¦big_laughbig_laugh
