Enjoy your sun, Sue.  I have done a machine load of washing in anticipation of putting it on the line aargh  The sky is brightening further West so fingers crossed.

We have had clear skies and lots of sun today.  It has now clouded over and I have no idea what tomorrow will bring.

I'll try that again!

I should have been more patient.  We did get some sun.  The washing went on the line and dried enough to iron.  However my raised flower bed at the front of the house is still leaking copious amounts of water.  Earlier whilst nobody was around I climbed over the fence into the field next door to clear debris from the end of the land drains to enable any more heavy rain to drain more quickly.  The run off from the road outside our house is piped under our patio into the ditch. The land drains under our property also run into the same ditch.   I approached the new people using the fields (the owner of the land's daughter and her husband) about getting a digger in to clear the ditch but they don't want any heavy machinery driven across the field. If they had allowed us to do this much earlier in the year the land would have been hard enough to do little damage but now it's too late.  They also had the hedges cut earlier in the year but all the debris was just left in the ditch. aargh I am concerned as the ditch is only about 20 ft from our boundary and if the pipes block we will be flooded.

We have a similar issue Sue, we are not on mains drainage at all, we have a septic tank and a soak away for all grey water, it's supposed to have a ditch running down from it that meets a field drain about half a mile away, but every year the farmer next to us ploughs the field and fills the ditch, well it's not the farmer...it'd be easier if it was, it's the contractors.

That was Iris, Jan, not me!  We have a septic tank too, which often gets blocked due to what the neighbours put down their sinks/toilets  steam  (the tank in our garden serves the 3 other tenanted houses as well).  It's flooded the bottom of our garden a couple of times.....not nice  flaming_nora

We had a beautifully sunny afternoon and now the clouds have all disappeared and it is much colder than the 5C of earlier.

I'll try that again!

wave We had a lovely bright sunny morning, but it clouded right over with some snow in the afternoon.  Now dry, cold  and clear.
