Fiona and I were standing in the kitchen this afternoon when there was a quiet rap of knuckles on the door. F went to open it. At the very same moment – Lord knows how – I thought "MOS".

There he stood, in all his glory, the fabled MOS. Mrs MOS was politely waiting in the car on the road outside. MOS did not require a second bidding to park up in our driveway and drag Mrs M in for a cuppa.

What a laugh we had! The MOSses are great company, I can tell you. They had been to nearby Bury St Edmunds on A Mission and thankfully had taken the time and effort to find the Cottage (on a blind bend, behind narrow pillars). It took MOS quite a while to identify our place, apparently, but we are so pleased that he persisted and eventually knocked on our door. Great timing too because five minutes later and F would have been absent, to do the weekly shop.

Their visit reignited our desire to make a meet-up happen this summer. It was such a pleasure to meet them. Really great people, and we would never have met them had it not been for the blog and forum.

If we all do meet up, ask MOS the meaning of a "nautical hour" and ask Mrs M how she responds to customers who ask "do you know who I am?". Especially the larger variety of male!

Thanks a million, MOSes. We are still buzzing and laughing at your tales. cheers

We did

with a rough idea of where they were and the will to succeed and as we were collecting our latest ebay purchase from Bury St Edmond's,it seemed a shame to let the opportunity slip by .

and glad we are too ,,, WE had a really warm welcome and enjoyed a really great(if only a little short) natter ,it was nice to make the characters of Danny and Fiona into real people ,and real people they are .real people who live real lives ,in a lovely village .we met the dogs and eventually slowed them down long enough to have a stroke (they are like whirling dervishes )that's the dogs not Danny and Fiona big_laugh.

And Danny is right we should all get together for the great BUN fight it woul;d be great to make everyone into real people ,and not just words on a screen ,

the forumites we have met so-far have whetted our appetite to meet more ,i hope we can all meet this summer and make all our forum friends into real people .

otherwise we will have to just keep trawling the country to find everyone .

How lovely, I'm glad you all had a good time.  I've just read Fiona's article in Amateur Gardening and would love to meet her and Danny, they're an inspiration.

I've been a member of a few caravan forums for a number of years and have met and made some really good friends that way.  There are some lovely, kind, generous and helpful people around. big_hug
