It is 24 hour Le Mans this weekend and I spent today at the great British welcome with lots of old friends who had come over and lots of yummy cars. It was a lovely day but am pleased to be back with the tranquility of home.

A friend rang and suggested we take Ruby for a walk this morning. I nearly said no, having woken feeling exhausted and drained. It seemed rude to refuse her kindness though, so I dragged myself out to meet her. Of course once I was out I began to feel better. She listened to my troubles as we walked, the sun came out, and we treated ourselves to coffee and chips afterwards. I felt very much better when I got home again. smile

Jean & Seth - I'm quite envious - I would love to have another dog, but ......

Maggie looks lovely - hope she doesn't cause you as much worry as Heidi.

Dogs Trust have her down as labrador cross. She is golden lab colour, but her shape is greyhound. So she is a lurcher. Which means that she is a dog with the genes to hunt by sight (greyhound) and by nose (labrador). Which means she is very clever. We are braced for the mischief when she gets her confidence. "You mean I was not supposed to reach up onto the table for that nice ham sandwich?!"

After just a few hours she is beginning to relax, and settle in. He has just taken her for a walk on the long lead, up the dyke-side, and I can see tham from the window doing serious smell investigations. I am very hopeful about this one. I think she will do well.

wave  I am absolutely delighted for you both.  I think a lurcher is a great dog and of course she has lab in her so I may just be biased. wink   She will be very clever and I hope you have a happy life together.  dog  big_hug

( Now would you like a wee black lab puppy to keep her company?  big_laugh  )

Sorry, Danuta. We would like a pup, SHE would like a pup, but we don't have the room! Anyway, she needs a bit of dedication for the moment. We don't know what might crop up and need much focus.

She certainly takes up a lot of room - this house used to feel large, but when she stands looking at the worktop, her arse-end is halfway across the kitchen. Could be problem, but she is not at all pushy. And she takes up nearly all the spare floor space in the sitting room, when she lies down and arranges her limbs like a supermodel.

She was created with a very expensive paintbox - she has the nicely shaded golden coat, but there are hints of light brindling that are visible in certain lights. Her nose is not black, but a very subtle deep blackish brown, and her eyeliner matches and is slightly darker than her irises.

As I said: a supermodel.dogbig_hug

Jean, she sounds fab - and adorable already.

Lovely. big_hug

This morning, finding two baby swallows sitting on our windowsill, preening and taking in the sunshine, with parents popping in occasionally. Sitting there for over half an hour. A bit bushy about the head, and large, wide yellow beaks. After a while they squidged up together, looking like they were cuddling.

Bliss.

What we Welsh would call a Cwtch, I bet they look gorgeous.  That wide yellow mouth is called the gape, for obvious reasons...

I'll try that again!
