School starts tomorrow after 6 weeks off, and I have been comforting myself most of the day (we are 8 or 9 hours ahead of most of you) reading old posts here and pigging out on chocolate.

So I stood up to go and inspect my first attempt at porchetta in a slow cooker, and discovered that I had been sitting on a large piece of chocolate! Alas, no longer a piece, but a brown, gooey mess on my beige sofa! Aaaaaaaargh!

My Astonish stain remover has helped, but oh the bad words keep flowing …….

Oh dear Sansho, I think we've all got healthy (or unhealthy, whichever way you look at it, hehe winkwhistle) imaginations and can probably guess the kinds of swear words…..and even supply a few of our own!! big_laugh

I've used Vanish stain remover a number of times and it works well, I don't know if you can get that in Japan but, then again, it may well be much the same as Astonish.

You can be assured that we will all have been mouthing very bad words on your behalf! I hope the stain disappears.

I'll try that again!

At the moment I can't tell how it's going to be. I scratched off the gooey stuff with my finger nails and managed to scrub away with the Astonish so that the marks are faint, but I may well just have spread the stain further. Have to wait till it dries. So now I have a good excuse to comfort myself with a large glass of red wine. Don't worry, I'll try hard not to spill it on the sofa! Hope that remark is not asking for trouble!!

You have my sympathies, sancho. I spent part of this morning wiping the carpet down with a damp rag where a box of after-8s had melted and the gooey mint filling had run out frown Such a terrible waste of good chocolate.

Hi Sansho – I really enjoyed your "Introduce yourself" post.

Do you recall Norman Schwarzkopf, the now retired US Army general?

Well, his surname is the swear word I use in any company. It has all the required vowels, consonants and plosives but it cannot be deemed offensive. Can it?

It certainly works for me. All the time!

Never knowingly underfed

Bobquail,

A whole box????!!!! What colour is (was!) your carpet?

Danny,

Yes, Schwartzkopf sounds expressive too. (The English translation just doesn't have the same effect!)

You could try something in another language that sounds more awful than it is. My current favourite is bram an gath. Try it in a suitably irate voice.  (It's Cornish and involves a cat and a smelly gust.) I'm still trying to decide on one that suitably describes an unpleasant person. Something colourfully descriptive would be nice. tongue

Has swearing at the stain improved it, Sansho? big_laugh

Very sad to hear about the loss of the After Eights bobquail. big_hug
