I think we need a thread for explaining things that appear in other threads so as not to take that thread of the topic that that thread is on when the thing that appears in that thread would undoubtedly take the thread off topic onto a topic that would be wholly wrong for that topic at that time .so here it is and if anything needs explaining you can do it here

So

FUFTLING tongs

are a long handled semi spherical straining tongs for skimming the Fletch from vats of mangenised goat fur ,shaved from feral angorfa goats from the lower slopes of the Niger mountains

the tongs are designed to collect the Fletch without disturbing the spignum below (the word fuftling refers to the fungus that grows on the fletch )and is later removed for drying to be used in the production of powdered egg

MOS, that is an absolute masterpiece! I am so looking forward to meeting you one day soon.

I have never, ever, seen anybody dig himself or herself out of a hole as well as you do. Write the manual and we will sell it here on CSH for $99.99 as an INSTANTLY DOWNLOADBLE eBOOK. You will get a brand new shovel from the deal, for even faster deep-hole-extraction-rescue-operations.

The verb "to furtle" is a vaild English term that was passed on to us by somebody a dozen years ago. It's a great word.

See here.

Good idea, MOS to open a separate thread for this sort of stuff rather than derail a good thread (take note, certain nameless individuals - underwear embroidery may safely be discussed here embarassed )

Never knowingly underfed

Fantastic! Read it three times and I was still dizzy.

So in future, when conversations drift off topic can we just say "lets take this to the Whats That thread"? Or "meet me in the Furtling thread" perhaps?

A place to safely discuss a really dangerous subject like embroidery is an excellent idea I think.

But MOS you didn't say furtle, you said FUFTLE.  Furtle was the original.  ( But I think you really knew that )    big_laugh

Hi maggenpie

we have a special place for discussing embroidery, in our cellar, its lead lined and with a blast proof door with slow release vents to lessen the shock to the rest of the house if it goes off THREAD .such is the power of embroidery (especially on underwear ).

i personally have a tribal tattoo embroidered on the crotch of my posing pouch for special solstice evenings and a crotchet settee cover with sequin motif on the arms ,but we don't have to discuss the crochet in the bunker as its not so volatile (just sparkley )
