Well, in my never to be humble opinion, there is a big difference between ranting on a soap box and righteous indignation. And it sounds to me you fall into the latter catigory.
Why should it be a crime to be cold? That's not right…..
Oh, yeah, 7 am, 28 degrees, icy. Burrrr!

I've not been out today, at all, so have no idea how cold it is out there other than it must be freezing because there is still ice everywhere.

I cannot get the car out at all, so I needn't even think about going anywhere. It has been a beautiful if freezing cold day. The dogs and I had a good time in the snow, but we are supposed to get more tonight. Then it has to freeze.
I need to go shopping on Wednesday, but I will worry about that tomorrow.

I'm so pleased that I don't need any shopping. Danuta, do take it very carefully if you go out shopping, it does sound very dangerous where you are.

lol….well its a little icy here , the drains have frozen , the ice is on the inside of the windows ( the joys of single glazed social housing) and the kids are on a major winge .
We have double glazing and we still have ice on the windows but that happens anyway when it is -15C outside. Got down to -18C today and the dear heating company managed to run out of wood over the weekend. Good job that we haven't actually been in that much but I did find it rather chilly this afternoon and was wondering why but then saw the heating company stoking up. Incompetence!!!
Sorry to hear about your problems Kay.

Snowing yet again!
Don't worry TA we have postponed our monthly fundraising lunch on Thursday so don't need to go shopping.

Kaye, here here! Only took three landlords and 35 years to get double glazing in my house…. Can't get cavity wall insulation, wrong sort of walls. Its warmer in here than last year, currently 52f with an open fire going. (Remember this is Cornwall, usually warmer than everywhere else in Britain except the Scilly Isles.) I got 2 storage heaters put in while under the previous landlord, they only give background heat through the day, nothing left by evening.
Danuta, I was about to suggest online shopping – but then I wondered – do tesco deliver by helicopter drop?
Sending hot water bottle s to everyone.

Tesco do not deliver here at all and neither do any of the others. It is a real pain, because it would be very handy at times like this. Mind you no delivery vans can get in at the moment anyway, but it could have been left at the gatehouse.
Insulation!!! I live in a wooden bungalow with walls about as thick as an ice cream wafer!!!!!! I have 2 double glazed windows and the rest don't even fit properly. Yes, you've guessed it – rented property. So I do sympathise Ruth. I spend a fortune on heating.

You really must be freezing Danuta!
I've just been talking to my daughter's boyfriend who lives in an unconverted chapel. Its completely unheatable of course and is hardly warmer than the outside temperature despite a wood burning stove. Brrr… I don't know how he copes. He did say that chickens make good handwarmers!
I've found that getting my feet warm is the most important thing. If my feet are warm I'm warm all over. So a hot water bottle under my double socked and fluffy slippered feet is my current favourite way to get warm.
Joanna, minus 18… hey thats the same as Wales isn't it? I hope you've got good insulation. I'm complaining about minus 3.
Now, being out, thats a good way of saving on the heating! Can someone with central heating please throw a party? We'll all come over for a warm up!

Actually, I'm not cold at all Ruth, but it takes a long time to warm up and cools down very quickly. I love my coal fire though and the gardener cuts lots of wood for me.

Hope everyone who already has snow is ok!
Very cold here too- smattering of snow over the weekend but it melted quickly, now colder and any water lying around is frozen solid.Wasn't so bad yesterday, but the wind is getting up today so it feels much less bearable.Went into town to pay bills etc today as it is going to get colder as the week goes on- really horrid, everything ached…so,that's me indoors until it gets a bit warmer!

It feels like Siberia out here in Suffolk too. Have had quite a bit of snow (in the terms of a soft southerner) although briefley around lunchtime the sun came out and for about an hour a short thaw set in before it all froze again and some more snow came down. There is only about 3" laying on the ground which is nothing compared to what I have just seen on the news elsewhere. Today I postponed my morning constitutional but tomorrow I will have to get out for a while subject to what comes in overnight.

got home yesterday from visiting sick mother in law, to find 4 inches of snow had falled in York (nothing in Lancaster) and our poor confused silkies (which are white) were just sat in the middle of it, covered with about 2 inches of the stuff, I'd have laughed if it hadn't been so sad – have to say I think they are a bit thick…they regularly poo in their food tray.
Had more of the stuff today, cleared the path to the coal/wood shed, just gone outside and realized that was a waste of half an hour.

By heck, we have snow! Not a lot, but enough to stop me from going to the hairdresser. My car is like a skate on ice. I'm staying in all day. I hope everyone else is managing.

Not yet, it is very grey and some white stuff is falling so keep finding excuses !! I have got quite a bit to do still for Christmas so am getting on with that, I feel guilty but I am more able to tolerate that than freezing out there !!
