Yay!! Wimbledon starts tomorrow. I will be glued to the TV for the next two weeks. Rooting for Andy Murray, of course, but also a nostalgic hope that Roger Federer will somehow pull it off again.

lived in Wimbledon for 3 yrs, before moving here. It was impossible to get a ticket even when you lived there.

But surely, it isn't warm enough for Wimbledon, is it?  wink

I am with with you TA! It will interfere with the timing for the British Grand Prix. Also my eldest was born on 30 th June, which was finals day and I was dumped in a bed and ignored for the rest of the day with my first baby.

Val you are quite right, it is mere 13C here today.

Aly, that was a dreadful thing to happen.

In truth, I find it all so very boring.

I'll try that again!

I had no idea it was on until I checked my google calendar. It's still set to show my old work calendar which has co-workers schedule and holidays on it and Ben, one of my ex-colleagues, is down as 'wimbledon' tomorrow.

(I was planning on popping back to meet people for lunch tomorrow - he was away at a conference last time I went back. I'm sure it's some really elaborate way of avoiding me!)

this made me laugh , as I was born on cup final day and my mum was in the  same situation, my dad did not even go to the hospital with her.

This is a bit like the film Buffalo 66 where the main character was born on the day the local football team were in some major game or something (it's been years since I saw the film so can't remember the details). Although in this case the mother resented him because she missed watching the game!

It's a very strange film but some bits of it have just stuck in my mind.

(I miss the days when I had time to watch random films as and when I pleased…)

Apparently Mike missed the birth of his first son as he was too busy in the waiting room watching the end of The Great Waldo Pepper' , his excuse when pushed about it now is that, Sally( the ex) was such a drama queen, that he thought she had ages to go yet, and he had plenty of time to watch the end....tut...Men!

It got better as that evening OH and his mum, brother etc all went out to celebrate her birth leaving me alone in the hospital. Just as well I am not a precious princess!

Just to get back on topic and in case any of you are not tuned in to the tennis channel (seemingly 49% of UK TV's are) Andy Murray has evened the score at a set apiece. But his opponent, Janowicz, is serving phenomenally well.

And he's through to the final. It will be a tough match against the world No. #1, Novak Djokovik. Guess where I'll be on Sunday morning. Saturday is the women's final which will be equally exciting.
