Oh, I could almost smell that!  I bought some the other day from a supermarket £1.50 – but it is a very large specimen.  I keep sniffing it when I go into the kitchen.

I'll try that again!

I can smell them every time I open the fridge. The smell is fantastic.

I bought 8 garlic heads for £1.50 at my local Reading market.

I wonder how much it would cost to post a garlic head, I could go into business :-)

You could indeed go into business, you'd have to work out overhead costs first though.

I'll try that again!

Being ignorant of such things despite living in the land of garlic, what is smoked garlic used for? I have some I grew last year I could try smoking.

Oh Simon, I can practically smell and taste that! It looks smashing.  Aly, use it wherever you use raw garlic, the smokiness adds such a depth of flavour.  If making soup, don't peel the cloves, put them straight in and taste the difference.

I'll try that again!

Oh dear!  I hope it won't interfere with all the things you should be doing…

Just popped over to amazon and have bought a stove top smoker (having done some research) expected to reach check out and be told "don't deliver to France" but joy, order placed! I like the idea of smoked veggies and fish. Looks fairly easy and I have a big stash of oak I may be able to cut down to chips saving money! I have yet to tell OH!

Aly, Simon did a brilliant demonstration of home smoking at our CSH meet-up here last July. The pick of the bunch was his smoked garlic. It is ab fab.

We love it with most anything. Even smeared on brown bread – like soda bread style. Great to serve as a started with soup or something.

Never knowingly underfed

I didn't know you could get stove top smokers so I had a look at amazon. I think theyre another item to add to the 'things to get when we have a bigger kitchen' list…
