This morning I came across this site for ordering hand-made wooden cookie moulds. I was so struck by just how beautiful they are I couldn't resist passing it on to you.....how I wish I had some. Isn't it wonderful that someone still makes them? It is amazing what is out there on the internet.

Bought some Speculaas molds fro Belgium just prior to Christmas, all correspondence was in dutch belgian, but google translate gave me the gist of it.

http://www.gekruid.be/speculaasplank-traditioneel.html

The mold I bought was about 10 Euro, and I think 6 Euro postage, so was not to bad. Delivery was fairly swift, about 5 days I think.

Are we having fun yet? I am!

Hattie, they are lovely indeed.

Martin, I have some of these moulds that I bought while living in Holland, a triple windmill type, and three with a larger single windmill.

Also a butter-shaping of a sheep mould, for Easter (not sure why, but it was customary!). My neighbour in Holland used to make one for us each year, and presented it with very small flowers and leaves.

Nice to have someone who can make the molds- not something I had thought of doing myself, but now I'm wondering?

They are lovely, not sure I'd use them, but they would be a lovely present for someone.

I've just taken a look and they certainly do look special. There's a lot of work in the larger ones.

Ah, but first I have to finish the green lady I started about four years ago. I have someone waiting for me to start carving green men again already. I'm afraid I haven't been carving at all over the past few weeks, and now I have other excuses lined up.

Also, although he says they are hand made he admits to using a router, which I don't have. I think I'm the only carver in our association who doesn't have a nice little workshop with all the right tools. I just make a mess on the carpet. big_laugh
