Mos....I think we've just been told off.....SorrySorrySorry

It's my job!  Apologies accepted.     Big_HugBig_Hug   Don't get me wrong, I like banter too, but we do need to try to keep it 'On the Sun-lounger'.

Certainly would BS, I might have to think about buying some cherries and having a bash at that.

I'll try that again!

Thanks to you all....good link. I have just stemmed 40lbs of black cherries with more to come so will be busy for a while. Also might be nursing some lambs with tummy ache, they have had their noses in the discard bucket and now looking very red faced!!!!2

Oh, red faced lambs.  What a picture!

I just looked at cherries in Tesco, they were £1.99 for 200g.  Eeek You wouldn't consider sending a care package to me would you?

I'll try that again!

The villagers are getting 1.50p a kilo from the merchants, they were hoping for 2.00. It's very labour intensive hand picking. I am rather daunted as we have 80 trees to do in the next week or so and hence my need to turn it into alcohol asap.Having said that I can't drink too much or the wheat harvest won't come in!!!! Hoping hubby will bowl up to help soon.

That's not a very good rate is it?  Are you harvesting all those trees alone or will the villagers help you?

I'll try that again!

It's just me and a guy that helps. As I am refusing chemical sprays my crop will not be like the rest of the village but I am seiously thinking of advertising "pick your own" next year, somrthing not done here. I may also give free accomodation in exchange for picking next year. I am learning fast that I cannot do it all myself...harvest and process end product !! Hopefully next year Jon will be here nearly fulltime but everything will have doubled by then, oh boy what a thought !

As I said in another section "retirement " is a ridiculous word.

What gets me is that we have all the European cherry growers just a short step away and Tesco get theirs from USA.  If I could buy a kilo for £4.00 I'd be happy but what they charge here is ridiculous.

Sandy, I certainly don't envy you the task of harvesting - cherries or wheat!  As for free accommodation in exchange for help, think very carefully if you could be out of pocket.  (If I could stand up for any length of time, I'd be up the ladder like a shot! Roll_Eyes

I'll try that again!

My recipe said just to prick them or I just cut them down to the stone ....another recipe said to crush them...

I put the cherries into kilner jars topping them up with brandy, vodka and gin just so that I could get the cherres out easily if I am short of a decent pudding...

I suppose you could also have them dipped in chocolate but now my mind is wandering again..that's the problem with having no tele or radio....Big_LaughBig_Laugh

Sorry TA, I know its off topic, but Sandy, did you see Shelly's experences with an organization called HelpX? Maybe that is your answer.

Shelly, where did you post about that? Was it Frugal, or Sun lounger?
