I'm going lamping with a friend of mine who is on the wagon so I wonder have any of you got a recipe for a beverage which I can take along for him to keep the cold out?

Cheers

Tim

Well, that didn't go quite as expected

Hot blackcurrant with raisins in it plus some spices like cinnamon and ginger.

American's also have what they call hot apple cider but it is not cider as an English person would know, it is just hot apple juice, usually the cloudy sort, with spices so those recipes would be worth looking up too.

That sounds great, Joanna.

Tim - what exactly is "liamping"? It sounds pretty exciting, and obviously a night time activity.

Thank you, Joanna

I'll try that.  Best take two flasks as mine should have a healthy measure of Skye's finest added.

In-fact I'll put the kettle on and give it go right now.

Danny, lamping is going out at night with a light and a gun, air rifle preferable as it's quiet, and bagging a few bunnies.

Yep.  Just made that drink and it was fabulous.

I used grated ginger root but ground cinnamon, the whole thing made a fantastic drink.  Highly recommended.

Thank you again, Joanna I'm sure Keith will find it warming and a real boost morale when fingers and toes become numb and the bunnies are hiding.

Thanks Tim.

Maybe hip flasks are a "male" thing but there is something so very satisfying about reaching into your pocket for a glug of some warming substance, especially at a sporting event on a cold winter afternoon. Not so keen on sharing, though Frown

Glad to have been of assistance. Mind you I have been that long out of England I forgot about blackcurrant juice meaning the drink you dilute as I was referring to the juice you get in cartons as that is what is commonly available here in Latvia or the more traditional juice and sugar mix made at home. At least it worked anyway

Lamping mates agreed; warming and makes you feel it's actually doing you some good.  Tastes like mulled wine should taste like.
