Well, I have now made my first 'crazy quilt' square - 10-inch - in lilacs/purples, etc.

Just started the embroidery, but I'm a bit of a rookie on embroidery, so I'll have to learn as I go along!

(A bit disappointing, I forgot to bring my bead needles, so attaching beads will have to wait. doh )

To make a quilt though - I think that's a long way off! laugh

Had a lovely time this morning in the haberdashers - fabric squares; lace; ribbons, and some wadding to get me started - ooh I could have spent a while in there ....  ok

" ooh I could have spent a while in there …"

Are we quite sure that "while" is the right word? Other words occur to me - Like "a fortune" "next week's housekeeping"

'next week's housekeeping' That brought back memories!  I haven't had to ask for that for twenty years or more and you have made me realise how free I now am.  Thank you Jean. big_hug

I'll try that again!

It is my humble opinion that there is no better place than a haberdashery to spend both time and money. And I gather French ones can be rather good. Have you come across "Sajou"?  There is a shop in Paris, and they have a website too. Their needles (sewing) are in a whole other class to anyone else's.
