| | It is in the shops right now, July edition. It isn't on the cover, but it is inside….been waiting months for it to be published as I finished writing the pattern and doing the 'how to' photos way beck in February! Had to keep quiet about it until now. Thought I would burst. | |

Hi Kate, Congratulations, what great news! You must have nearly burst, keeping such a secret for so long. Good for your reputation too; a little recognition goes a long way & you deserve it. How has the Open Studio scheme gone for you this year….I hope you sold enough to make all that hard work & disruption of your home worth it. I suspect the terrible weather might have kept a lot of people away.

| | Thanks one and all. Open Studio has been hit and miss Nadine- the weather has not been on my side! It was very noticeable that the one nice sunny afternoon brought more people out. What has rather got to me this year is the way people seem happy to come, spend nearly an hour asking me questions, being taken through everything, possibly having a coffee ( fresh filtred I might add….) , use my loo and then leave without even buying a card. Personally I consider that just plain rude- if I went into someone's home and studio and spent that amount of time there I would buy a card at the end- even if I disliked their work!- the coffee would cost more in Starbucks than a card. Some of the people who came were a real pleasure to talk to, but I do wonder what people think we are opening our studios for- it is, simply, to sell stuff! But I've covered my costs again this year, so fair enough. Lot of work for not much return though. Last day today, raining, has been all night, doubt it will be busy. | |

| | Seems everyone wants something for nothing now. I see it all the time amongst the expats here. Your work is beautiful and you deserve success. | |

| | I would love to be one of the people coming through your door Kate, enjoy the coffee and a chat and would be honoured to buy a piece of your work. Some people have no manners. We have a similar thing here and I would not dream of going in and not buying something, however small. After all most sellers have small things for sale so that people can afford to buy something and give support.
