Eileen, she comments that she doesn't sew through denim to denim - that is why she has the black material between the denims, so to speak!

I must say that the idea of buying the extra material then cutting it into strips sounds a bit of a pain, I think I would rather buy a ribbon of sorts. She does link the reader to another website - Lucysquilts, and this lady has made over 100 of them (phew!) - wel that's what she said. I can't imagine keeping up the enthusiasm for so many! laugh

I don't think I could make that many Val I enjoy making them but they take so long to make, I usually use amish patterns, I like to do other things in between.

Have you any pics of the Amish ones, Eileen?

I don't normally take pictures Val and I usually give the quilts away, but I do have an eight pointed star quilt I kept , I will try and take photos tomorrow and put it on my blog. I don't belong to photobucket so can't put them on here.

Lovely, Eileen - only when I enlarged the picture did I see the pretty fabric on the pink one - how delicate!

The green one looks a lot more complicated, but I suppose that's what the Amish people were good at. Well done!  welldone

Oh, good luck on that!! eeek

I am always amazed at the precision of sewing required to get the patterns to join up so well.

Did you say you handsew them together?

Looking on my other e-mail folder, I discovered about 20 messages I hadn't seen .... doh

Anyway, one of them was Better Homes & Gardens (a magazine) and just looking through I found this quilted tablemat & coasters pattern instructions, if anyone is interested.

Here is another picture of it. (I hope! laugh)

OH likes to wear a hat while out in the garden, or in fact while doing any DIY jobs, and he gave me a pair of jeans that was pretty much held together by patches!!

So I managed to retrieve some nice pieces and made him another work hat, and from this pattern, I know, it does look like a girlie hat, but I happened to have a pair of white cotton/jeansy type of fabric, and so I used that to line it. I must admit, it has turned out really well. I might even make some more .... whistle

Just thought I would add, the hat was a very easy pattern - a good starter project for a novice, too.

In fact, so easy, that I am cutting out sufficient for another two hats.

The only cost is my time, so it has to be a good idea!
