Morrisons have some good diced pork on offer at the moment, something like £4 per kilo. We will be having some for tea tomorrow night when we have Son and family over. Not sure what it will be yet, some sort of pork/apple/cider type thing I expect.

We live off pork because that is about the only meat around here. We will be getting chickens soon for just that reason.cheers

I know what you mean, goodness knows how we will feel once it comes to the deadly deed, but I will console myself that the chicken in the pot will have had a far better life than its anaemic cousin in the supermarket – that is when we can get one that is!

The pattern of reductions seems to have changed since Christmas at my local Tesco. It used to be that if I got there around half five in the evening the CFC had just been stocked up with the second round of reductions and there was always a good range of meat and fish. These days there's been precious little left and it's mostly been ready meal type things.

I don't know if the staff shifts have changed or people are having a really tight January. I know there are certainly more people around the CFC than there used to be. Some of us have started recognising one another and helping each other out. I get to reach things down to the little old ladies and feel like a tall person for a change!

I got a load of slice beef in sainsburys deli counter yesterday, it had all been reduced to about £7.50 per kilo, so I've bought a good few slices and will freeze some.

Not seen anying good on the CFC shelves recently

Went to Asda one day last week, got there mid-evening.  They'd just put a load of stuff in the CFC, I got some packs of salad leaves and prepared veg for 10p a pack, plus some Gluten Free sausages from their Extra Special range – they are 97% pork and are really delicious.  Normal price £2.32, reduced to 80p! eeek  I bought all 4 packs they had there……greedy I know, but I do love a good sausage, and GF ones are sometimes hard to find.  Well happy oklaugh

learning to love veg…..except celery :-O

We live off pork here in France; no CFC but lots of Fête de porc; last time got a HUGE leg of pork (around 7KG or 15lb) for 20 euros or 16 pounds!!!

We roast it then use the left overs for casseroles, sandwiches, curries etc.  However the enjoyment is beginning to wane for some around us; our friends young son came over for the last roast and was heard to say 'oh no!!! not pork again!!!' on finding out what was for tea!!big_laugh

Too much of a good thing Shelley.  I get fed up with my soups too when they last for more than three days.

I'll try that again!

We buy a large piece of pork, cut it in to hot meal, and a few days cold eating portions, freeze the bulk in portions, cook and enjoy the smaller piece- then we  stagger the joint over a period and it does not get to "samey"

Le Clerc have started doing 3 for 2, amazing! Stocked up on cat food! OK so not the best thing to get a deal on but it is a start! With 4 cats it is expensive!
