I have so many tins that I think I could last about two weeks but what I am running out of is milk and I must have that for my first cup of tea of the day.  I can make bread and I have crackers and rice cakes so the starch is taken care of.

I'll try that again!

I don't know if anyone else remembers the old tv series The Mary Whitehouse Experience. I was actually discussing this programme with a friend recently and this particular sketch came up in conversation. I've tried to find the exact sketch but I couldn't. Anyway, enough waffling because if you don't know the sketch, none of this will make sense...

I Love this thread! smile

I've not been shopping since Christmas Eve and intend to make do until the end of the month... buying only the odd thing like bread!

There was a time that I spent a fortune every week on food and wasted most of it so this is a very good exercise for me! Plus, my husband says my best food is produced when I'm forced to be creative!!!

Hopefully when we're all set up here we won't need to shop much at all but we'll see!!

Bought my house/land in June 2010 so officially settled since then but have lived here on and off (on the boat I worked on) since 2005. 🙂

Sounds idyllic.  I holidayed in Monte Estoril many years ago, had a wonderful time, the people are lovely, so is the food and the wine.

I'll try that again!

Emma, be careful, we may get you bread making too in which case you may be in danger of being housebound...

Haha... I certainly intend to learn... I used to have a bread maker but the solar panels/wind generator are not giving me enough power to run it at this time of year!!!!

Yes, just read on your other post that you are completely off grid - if energy prices keep going up we may all be joining you soon !!
