What a disappointment, even £9.00 isn't very cheap.  Big_Hug

I often think that pre-prepared things are not so rigorously assembled as the supermarkets would have us believe.  If you'd made it yourself you would have ensured that you had the perfect cut of beef.

I'll try that again!

Re-instating this thread as I got a great bargain today at Morrisons, not sure if they do this everywhere, but they had quite a bit of fruit and veg bagged up and tagged as 'superior seconds' - everything was 39p, got 5 red grapefruit for 39p, and a handful of fennel, was tempted by loads more, but restrained myself as I knew I'd probably not get round to using it. Have tried a new way (for me) of marmalade making today - whole fruit just boiled up for 2.5hrs. Used the grapefruit, a couple of oranges that were past their best and some lemon skins out of the freezer. Supposed to leave it to cool then chop up, add suagr and reboil, but got sidetracked in the garden, so will do marmalade in the morning.

More Bagains bagged today. Asda were doing some brill deals, Litre bottles of orange juice (Don Simon)in the chiller counter for 50p(should be £1.40, sometimes on offer for £1)

Jars (long life) Tsatsziki - small, but only 15p

Colemans packet sauces between 19 & 29p a packet

Packs of 6 satsumas for 72p

Frosties £1 packet

Sainsbury's didn't have the same volume of deals but I got some champers, reduced form £27.99 a bottle to £10.

Not as good as your veg bargains, Terrier, but I nabbed some lovely baby leeks, sweetcorn and asparagus for 50p a packet in Tesco. I'll do them in olive oil with coarse pepper as a veg treat for myself.

I also got a pack of 4 strawberry muffins for 60 which G's taking to work for snacks and best of all - bags of Dormen's Seasonal fruit and nut mix for a penny bag. Yup - 1p. I got  to check the price because there wasn't one on the shelf, so he scanned (several times) and came over and said "1p" with a puzzled look on his face. I took 4 bags - they're good until May and perfect snack food for work 🙂

One great way of being frugal and living well is to take advantage of the really good supermarket offers that come along now and again.

I'm not sure if offers on my local supermarkets are the same in all supermarkets of the same brand, but I guess they will be pretty widespread at the same time, so I've started this thread so that members of our little community can pass on news of offers they think might be worth taking advantage of.

This one involves Sainsbury's.

I've just bought 4 bottles of Hardy's Crest Cabernet Sauvignon priced at 9.99 (most supermarkets now have it at 8.99, and it's among my favourites) and 2 bottles of First Cape First Selection Shiraz Rose, priced at 7.99, on mix and match 3 for a tenner offer. Better yet, the 5% discount for buying 6 bottles is based on the full price, so with the offer and the discount I got the 6 bottles of pretty good supermarket wine for 17.20.

All tips gratefully received.

David

Thanks David, we'll all be off to Sainsbury to clear the shelves! big_laughwink & why not I say make the most of it.  Do you get 'Martins Money Tips', they usually have the latest offers & sales that are going to be on long before they're officially announced.  Worth signing up to.

That's a great idea that you've come up with, every one posting their latest 'bargains' on here, as you say it's easier than trawling through all the other items that are of no use to you.  It'll be so helpful if we all do that, after all we all love a bargain! welldone

Story of my life TA always 'miss the boat', I did wonder why the assistant that I asked hadn't a clue what I was talking about!!!!!

How on earth did I not notice that on the post?  I obviously, see what I want to, the good offer, a few years late. dohbig_laugh Sounds about right for me, I seem to be having one of those weeks, not functioning correctly, must be the shock of seeing the Sun, well that's my excuse! roll_eyes

Thanks TA, I feel that you'll all have to bear with me please, not too good.cheers

Don't worry Odelle, we've all done something similar at some point.  When you say 'not too good' are you not feeling well?

I'll try that again!

Not had any good deals reently, but today - got Etienne Dumont Champagne in Sainsbury's -on offer £10 instead of £29.99.

However I got some great deals in M&S, a small chicken for £2, 2 packs of lamb chops for £3, a small gammon joint for £2. Half leg of lamb for £3.

It was all reduced stuff - but very nice looking - had the chicken for tea.

I had my best ever CFC harvest on Sunday afternoon when I went to get something to feed the  three-person TV crew who were arriving Monday. i_am_hungry

Somebody up there is intervening on behalf of Fiona. That's the only explanation I can think of eeek

First to Tesco where I loaded up on several packs of Finest salady-type stuff, like giant coucous with chargrilled peppers etc. Then I wandered past the CFC where I spotted a whole load of that kind of stuff reduced from £2 to £0.20. Whoooohooo tongue

Including a pack of stuffed vine leaves for £0.40 and a sushi-style rice dish reduced from £4 to £1

Then I went to Waitrose because somebody was said to enjoy nice ham. This was the danger moment because one can easily spend £20 at the deli counter on what seems to be just a few slices of this and that. So I was treading warily. My eyes nearly popped out of my head when I spotted not one, but two remnants of ham on the bone at give-away prices per piece of £2.24 and £3.75

We served chicken and ham with a smorgasbord of sides, including some roasted veggies that I had cooked with the chicken and which were delish, and a dozen of our fresh eggs hard boiled. It went down a treat.

We had ham again today for lunch and there are at least four more dinner size servings left on the bones. Then ham and split pea soup will be bubbling up.

Did I get lucky or wot? big_laugh
