Elsa, I'm disappointed in you too.  Frown

I'm having cauliflower cheese for tea tonight.  I shall cook the whole thing then use half for tonight and then Aloo Gobi for Saturday. I_am_Hungry

I'll try that again!

See, I just knew you guys would be excellent and creative at using up leftovers.

I will be keeping an eye on this thread for inspiration. Like the crispy fried leftover potatoes topped with egg Ok Although "leftover potato" is a bit of an alien concept for G.

Shereen, can you just tell him that you've only just mashed the potatoes? Once cooked he'll never know!!!!!!

You can add some leftover cooked, sliced finely, cabbage, and hey presto, bubble and squeak!!

(Or, squeal, as I typed initially Whistle , or perhaps that's what happens when he hears the word 'leftover' !)  Big_Laugh Big_Laugh

How about leftover chicken from the Sunday (or any day!) roast. Break into manageable pieces, put into a lasagne-type dish, add some chopped or sliced mushrooms, pour over a cream of mushroom soup. Top with breadcrumbs and parmesan, cook in oven till piping hot. Scrummy.

Brightspark - the reason leftover potato is an alien concept to G is that he eats every single bit of potato I cook for dinner. Even when I've planned to have some leftovers.

I think it's an Irish male habit as my brother is the same and *whisper* I hear Danny is just as bad.

TA, I'm blushing now - but I really do think that it's you who needs a Star - because that's what you are!

.... and.......

you are everyone's friend.

Couldn't do without you.

Ah, Shereen, now I understand.

Yes, I think you're right.

We had a party (eons ago!) and an Irishman was a guest. He spent so much time chatting to everyone (blarney!?*), that by the time he went to find something to eat, the potato salad had gone.

Did he have a strop or what?

Yes, I confess to belonging to G's club. especially when it comes to roast potatoes cooked in goose fat with garlic granules, black pepper and salt added to the fat. I have oft times been amazed (in hindsight) at the quantity i can put away. They are also perfect for nibbling next day (rare survivors), or even as a cold breakfast. Especially if there is leftover roast beef grave. Dip and munch I_am_Hungry

Never knowingly underfed

At lunchtime today I used the old "put the eggs in cold water" test to sort out the usable and unusable eggs in the older box. There were 2 perfectly ok ones that I scrambled with the last handful of fresh peas and then topped them off with a couple of handfuls of shredded pea shoots from the pot on the patio.

Next time I'll add a handful of grated cheese when I'm plating it up.

The other 2 eggs went in the brown bin and I put the lid down rather quickly again.

Oh dear, shame about your eggs but at least they'll do some good elsewhere.

Last night I got a quarter of crispy duck from the Chinese take away and managed to eat half of it, so this evening I sautéed the left-over spring onions and some lettuce then added the shredded duck and had that in the three pancakes that were left.  Not a thing went to waste! Smile

I'll try that again!
