BS, my cherry tomatoes have split (or rather the ones that ripened pre-blight split). I think it was because it was fairly dry but not so dry the tomatoes seemed to need water, and then it rained, hard. Sweet Million didn't split as badly as Gardeners Delight, and tasted better.

The alternating wet and dry weather sounds plausible. I guess I'll have to put up with losing some of the tomatoes. One of the plants is in the soil whereas the others are in pots - I think the one in the soil has had fewer split fruit which is probably due to the ground not drying out as quickly as pots.
